Patrick and Jake will do anything for each other and with the addition of Sophie, their love and willingness to do anything has been expanded. This is an excellent standalone addition to the series. I love that even though a short read, there is so much story, emotion and charcter development in this book. This is a beautiful story with some obstacles that make the story all the more interesting.

I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest, unbiased review.

I am normally a read-series-in-order type of person, but I started with the 3rd book in this trilogy anyway because I’m still following my Aquatic/Nautical reading theme. I’m always excited to find MMF ménage romance and figured if I liked Swimming Destiny then I could always go back and read the first two books. Unfortunately, this was a bit disappointing. The prose was merely passable, the dialogue was stilted, the characters were one-note, and the sex scenes were mechanical. It lacked any depth or feeling. I prefer romances (yes, even erotic romances) that are more fleshed out, with well-developed characters. Without that, it was impossible for me to become emotionally invested or titillated, and the whole book fell flat.

Endnotes: MMF, paranormal, contemporary, aquatic shifters, virgin heroine, fated mates, straight for you, 3rd-person triple POV, novella (25k words)
Heat Index: 5/5
4 full, explicit sex scenes. First scene is at 15%. Sex acts include anal sex, vaginal sex, cunnilingus, fingering, HJs. M/M and M/F interactions.

More sex than story

So the other two books had story with a lot of sex, this one felt like the short was shoehorned in around the sex. We missed the growth of the relationship, the changes and the under arching characters were lost to hormones. It was great to see a conclusion of the trilogy in a good way but definitely not as interesting.
