Fun! A lot of steam! A lot of growing up and changing. Hunter and sailor agree to live together so hunter can grow up and sailor and get endorsements for the archery Olympics. Slow burn and some family / family work drama thrown in.

The Hunter and the Prey

This book just reminded me of why I love L.J. Shen. Hunter and Sailor were fire and their chemistry was explosive. They were complex and real, and I loved watching them grow. Sailor’s obsession with proving herself and Hunter’s need for people to stay felt like things I’ve experienced myself. There were times where I almost gave up on Hunter, but then he would do something that pulled me right back in.
There were some moments that I didn’t think would be so emotional considering the characters it was involving. But I found myself laughing, crying, and being completely shocked.
I can’t wait to read Cillian’s story.

This book wasn't what I expected. Based on the cover and the first few chapters, I expected it to be run-of-the-mill smut (which I'm here for, BTW). But it was actually very little that and surprisingly a very solid book on its own. The smut played second fiddle to the story, which was refreshing. And the characters were so well-developed that I could visualize actors and actresses playing them (Hunter started as Dane Cook for me, but transitioned to Ryan Reynolds. Not sure about Sailor, she's a tougher one). There also were several points where I laughed out loud, something I'm always a fan of in a book. And there's a playlist! I heart books with playlists!

The Hunter is the first book in the Boston Belles series. This is Hunter and Sailor's story. We met Hunter in the past books and we met Sailor's parents in Sparrow.

Hunter is the playboy with the bad reputation, and Sailor is the goody goody who doesn't like going out. She is training to be an archer and wants to go to the Olympics. Hunter is caught in a scandal and his dad tells him he has to be clean and no partying for 6 months, or he will lose his spot in the Fitzgerald family fortune. He basically hires Sailor to be a babysitter since she isn't into the partying scene.

Hunter thinks Sailor is a bore at first, and Sailor can not stand Hunter. Although living together feelings start to change. Can he get past his bad boy ways and settle down with one person? Can she come out of her shell.

My favorite thing about this book was the banter between the two characters. It's what they were good at. It had me laughing out loud at a few spots.

I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait for more in the series!

These two certainly gave each other a run for their money!
And the twist … my goodness what a diabolical family. My heart breaks for Hunter even if he needed a serious kick up the bum for his over the top shenanigans.
I really don’t know that I would call it a happily ever after…. More like a toxic family love I’ll take what I can get kinda situation happening here. These two certainly can see the silver lining and make their own happiness.
