This book was all over the place. I didn't feel the comfort of being in Alex's world and most all of the characters were new. While I like twists, I am not certain The Wolf is dead as there were at least three people that died when we though they were the wolf.
I usually don't write reviews for Alex Cross books because they've always been kind of the same. That's certainly not a bad thing...to me they've always been quick, light, intriguing reads. I had some problems with the previous book, The Big Bad Wolf, in the beginning, but it picked up about halfway through. This one, however, took until like the last 100 pages to pick up. I was excited to read it because I love when Patterson uses the same villain across a few books, but there was so much description of the FBI and the different fighting teams that it felt like nothing was happening. I'm hopeful the next book will move faster like the previous books did.
This was the first book of the Alex cross series that I got bored with reading. Yes it has the usual Patterson suspense but the story line of terrorism is not good. One of the few things I do not enjoy reading about.
Did not care for the character or writing style, interesting storyline. Won't ever read another James Patterson.
Worst of the Alex Cross books by far. While I know that it was written post 9/11 for the first time since I've been reading the books the action seemed very manufactured.
Not my favorite by any means.

The ending was a bit too convenient. It was obviously a real page turned as I started it late this morning. It kept me glued to the pages. How is it that Patterson writes the character of a black man so well? Or is Alex Cross an "everyman"?

It was okish. I had expected more. Storyline was good but it needed more work. The ending was also dry after all the ups and downs.
Patterson is crap. I mean, he is really bad! The only parts in his books when I can derive some sort of satisfaction is when I realize that I shouldn't be comparing him to other authors (Pearson, Crais, King, Harris); he must be held to a standard that is, almost, unfathomably low. The last quarter of this book doesn't even make since! Contrarily, nothing made since. I have as much beef with Patterson as I do his editor. Rather than squashing the beef James, I think its time just went our separate ways.
