A lot of fantasy elements in here that I found confusing and also maybe clashed a bit too much.
Like there was just too much between the dark academia and the whole coven thing with all the houses; and the end with a bunch of monsters coming out of the ground. I was like wtf is going on
. for me the twist at the end was dampened because there was not enough world building.

I mean I’ll still read the second one

That go the way you thought it was going to go???
Me: Nope….

This book was not for me. I love a good Romantasy. Brownie points if there are witches and spice, so I had high hopes here. But… nope. This absolutely did not hold my attention AT ALL. I only finished it because I’m no quitter.

This book gave me ' new version of Sabrina the Teenage Witch' vibes. It had mythology with figures such as Hecate and Lucifer, but with its own flavor of lore and magic in amongst it. And as with anything magical, I ate it up.

This was the epitome of enemies to lovers, like they couldn't be more opposing if they tried. The line between hate and love was continuously blurred.

There were secret plots, leaving you never quite sure who the bad guy was. But it also didnt leave you too confused, it gave you hints along the way, and clues to piece together, rather than leaving you lost until the end.

The story was paced well, which of course it had to be given its length, although it builds to a shocking ending that makes you wonder what book two brings.

It was a four cause I loved everything about it, except the seductress role of the FMC. Which you understand why that was far fetched when you read it, no spoiler here.

A good read, but the ending was not for me. Definitely an interesting story with a shocking ending

3.5

I was not expecting that ending what the heck. I thought this book was pretty good for being so short I can’t wait to read the next one.
