Probably 3.5 stars. This is getting darker as it goes. They've got Batman's secret stash of hero killer stuff, an evil Justice League from another dimension, a 2nd Justice League of heroes created to keep the regular Justice League under control, double agents, and Pandora's box making people crazy. I was thinking I'd probably stop reading this series after this, but not I'm intrigued.

Kinda strange that I didn't leave a review of this one when I read it back in 2020. But now I'm reading a bunch of New 52 titles so it got a reread.

Good stuff here. I especially like when Pandora's box lets out some inner feelings. And Grid's appearance was pretty brutal. Things just keep getting worse for our heroes, the tension is great!

I am conflicted on this review. I enjoyed the book and would have given in 4 stars based on that alone. However, we did not get the whole story which is wrong when you buy (or in this case borrow from the library) a collection. If I am spending my hard earned money on a product I want the whole thing. How do you leave out an important issue from a compilation? Yes I know it is in the Trinity War collection, but what if I dont like the other titles and I only want to follow my Justice League (once again based in Rhode Island my home state!!!!). Anyway enough ranting about collections. I liked the story leading up to Trinity and I enjoyed the end when they brought back......sorry no spoilers here. I want to see how the new members fit in to the super group as well.

There’s a lot going on in this graphic, the beginning didn’t make much sense, but after seeing some of the other reviews that this could’ve been split up into 2 different stories (main reason first half confused me since half story was part of a different title). There were so many characters that just appeared without any real explanation of why they were there.

Is it me or does DC seem to over use the Crime Syndicate? Maybe I’ve read too many Justice League graphics & they seem to surface a lot.

This isn’t a slam against Geoff Johns or his writing, but a criticism against DC & how they format their graphics. The art by Ivan Reis is beautiful.

Somehow I never bought vol 5 of New 52 Justice League, but have volume 6. So I guess I’ll have to miss out on (insert sarcasm) on the Crime Syndicate story.

Why do I keep doing this? Why do I keep torturing myself? Come on, DC! I keep picking up these books hoping I will eventually figure out what's supposed to be going on, but I'm just as confused as ever. A reader should not have to puzzle through multiple series just to find one coherent story. All that does is frustrate people. Also, it's been three years guys. Can we finally agree on what is and what isn't in continuity?

If this foolishness keeps up, I might have to switch to Marvel.

What it has going for it: focus on other characters like The Atom, Firestorm, Element woman, which play well since the Justice League should be more than just Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman (although we do get plenty of that); also, we get our first view of Batman's "brother eye" mentality from the old continuity in the New 52.

What it has going against it: The whole volume exists only to build up to the Forever Evil event. This means that a lot of what happens doesn't make sense on its own, and the book is missing several introductions that must have happened on the Justice League Dark and/or Justice League International titles.

This Justice League book is great! I loved the character development and dialogue. There's some really good humor mixed in too. The artwork is stunning, especially those splash pages with a million characters. And the storyline is perfectly paced and drew me in. This is easily the best superhero team book I've read in awhile, on par with Bendis' work on Avengers.

Most of this is Trinity war story, so see that review if you're curious. The rest is fluff. *sigh*
