The books in this series are so horny but I love the paranormal aspect more. I loved the mythology in this series and the fact that it’s so easy to understand and visualize. Armstrong does best when she’s combining adult themes with supernatural stories. I liked the inclusion of the Lizzie Borden murders as part of the story. Eve Levine is a unique protagonist and I liked seeing things from her perspective, and learning about the rules of being a ghost. Seeing Jaime Vegas again was a treat and I hope that we see a book from her perspective. I’m beginning to appreciate the interconnectedness of this series from book to book. This book does a great job at being a standalone book while also being a part of a greater series.

This would be my second to last favorite of the series so far, having liked it better than Industrial Magic. I enjoyed it quite a bit at first, jumping into a new world and being a fan of Armstrong's world-building. The afterlife that was created, while being interesting and complex, started to seem a bit convoluted after a while. There also seemed to be some scenes that weren't at all necessary, although I'm not saying I didn't enjoy some of them, and could have easily been edited out. For example, I didn't see much point in the scene at La Ceiba, but I was excited at the possible identity of "Danny-boy." The middle seemed a bit slower as I got settled in the world and not much actually seemed to be happening. The end though really does pick up, once I got to the climax, with Lucas, Paige, and Savannah, I could not put the book down. It was just so exciting.

For 3 books we are reminded of how Eve is a scary, villainous, degenerate, untrustworthy character and I have to say meeting her was disappointing.
Many of the “bad” things that other characters thought about her make for an interesting character for Eve herself but when we meet her she is very much bland and appeasing to anyone around her. Never once she challenges the Fates, she very quickly accepts what her fate is and what the task given to her is and she goes on to do it.
I would have preferred a more strong character, even angrier to be fair. Never once we are told how she died, or why.
She doesn’t seem very flashed out as a character and Kelley is starting to write all her women to sound very alike!

3 stars. This was way too long for a plot that could’ve most definitely been novella length instead of over 500 pages. Easily my least favorite in the series as it really doesn’t add anything to the world or move the series along in any way. It was just a side quest following Eve, Savannah’s mother. She was fine. Not my favorite heroine but she grew on me by the end. There wasn’t really a romance in this. The guy, who’s name I’ve forgotten because he was that forgettable and Eve had history but there was no chemistry.

This was a slog to get through. I’m not even gonna lie. Too many details and side tangents that weren’t necessary. I’m only giving this three stars because we do get to see Jaime, Savannah, Paige, and Lucas which was great and the way Armstrong described the afterworld and afterlife was pretty cool. Other than that this won't be one I revisit upon a re-read of this series. On to book six!

Another really great instalment in this series!

This time were following Savannahs mum, Eve- and yes she's still a ghost!

A great POV to see it from, and to watch her and Savannahs dad, Kris develop the relationship they do in the afterlife is also actually quite heartwarming, especially when we initially were led to dislike him.

Eve is given a mission with very vague instructions from the Three Fates...which she takes due to her fondness for danger...however it's only when she starts talking to the beings that can help her that she begins to see what her "reward" for this would be.

A great storyline- this one kept you thinking "surely it must be now" and groaning when it wasn't!
Once again we are with Jaime who can obviously see and converse with Eve and is the one to help her in the mission.

Well written, showing again more sides to previous characters and showing more sides for the characters that are to continue. I love the fact that the previous characters are at the very least mentioned, such as Jeremy- who Jaime seems to have a crush on- and will be interesting to see how and if that develops!!

A series that stayed on my TBR pile for too long!!

Eve & Kristof are one of my favorite couples. I really wish Kris & Savanah would have had a chance to be father and daughther.

Another good book in the series. Still not my favorite set of characters in the books.

I do enjoy Savannah's growth though!

My least favourite of the series so far 🙃

Not a lot actually happened in this book, the spice was dialled right back and Eve as the narrator wasn't my preferred main character

Hoping that with the next book being back with Elena I'll enjoy that much more
