Haunted by Kelley Armstrong

Armstrong is very good at introducing new characters before giving them a book to themselves and this is no different. We've already met the main character, Eve, in 'Stolen' and her name has come up multiple times in both 'Dime Store Magic' and 'Industrial Magic' so readers will be familiar with her. Having been painted as a black witch it is surprising to find out that she's not as evil as everyone thought and is capable of redemption for the evil she did perpetrate. This book also builds on both Savannah's and Paige's story-lines and ties them all in neatly. Another excellent addition to the series.

It might sound redundant, but this book truly was haunting. I found Eve's perspective very interesting and like the different direction this one took from the first four novels. Eve is so different than Paige and Elena and being inside her mind was an experience. The plot was also very different from the previous four and somewhat refreshing. I liked the flashbacks to the Nix's past. This was probably the most frightening of all of the novels as well, and just goes to show Kelley Armstrong's talent in creating a feeling.

I really enjoyable and entertaining book! I don't think anyone should skip it just because it doesn't link to the next books but I think there are little references here and there to this book in the others. Anyways I thoroughly enjoyed this book with Eve's sarcastic humour and POV. She's an interesting character and this book is fast paced with an interesting storyline with little bits of history snucked in. There's also a tinge of romance and I feared there would be a love triangle but thankfully there wasn't. Definitely a book worth reading. Highly recommend it.

I think I fall in love with this series the more I read it. Eve is easily one of my favourites and I'm glad she has a whole book to herself. Kristoff is also a surprisingly great character and I really love his relationship with Eve. He's the perfect partner for her. It was great to see such a powerful character struggle. Eve seems to be perfect in every way but she can't let go of the living world even though she's dead. I think this was a great story about how Eve finally accepts her death and that her daughter will be just fine without her.
I could have done with the chapters in the Nix's POV but besides that this was a pretty quick read.

I like the idea of eve more than the execution.

I wish she was more of the selfish evil bitch everyone considers her to be. Instead she's given a pretty solid 'misunderstood and growth' arc that I found a bit disappointing.

This book was good but I missed more story one Savanna and Paige. I know this book was more about Eve but it was just ok for me. We got a Nix and some angels and ghosts in this book but I like reading more about Paige and Savanna. I like to see that Savanna is growing up in these books as well.

Loved the whole idea of there being a society in the afterlife, with jobs and everything. I like Eve a lot better now after reading this book but I'm ready to see the next stage of Elena and Clay's life <3

Book 5 in the Women of the Otherworld series. This is the story of Eve, Savannah's mother, and Kris, her former lover, and Savannah's father. Eve was a powerful witch, which dabbled in black magic, and Kris was a powerful sorcerer, and Lucas' half brother. They both died, and are ghosts now. Eve is employed by the three fates to capture a demonic Nix. If she manages to do that, she will get her wings. According to the Toronto Star, “Armstrong has created a persuasive, finely detailed other-worldly cosmology — featuring sorcery, astral projection, spells, telepathy and teleportation.” Very different than her other two story lines, but like her other books, this one did not disappoint.
