JOSIE & JAMIE YOU REVELATIONS!

My first and certainly not last book by this author. Her style of writing is so engrossing I simply couldn’t put this down. I love these characters and though parts felt extremely far fetched, I still went into this novel expecting the thrill and it delivered. The moments of suspense were so incredibly well done and I can’t get over how the intimate scenes were handled. The way the author focuses so heavily on the emotions of the characters over what is happening physically was just wonderfully done. I’m so excited to read the rest of this long series.

Romantic suspense set on a ranch with therapy animals in Montana. Sign me up! First in a series. The suspense part of the plot was equal to the romance.

Evelyn is on the run/in hiding from her psycho ex, after he finds her again she runs to a small town in Montana and straight onto Resting Warrior Ranch looking for a job, said Ranch just so happens to be owned by a group of ex military men who started the Ranch when their own journey to recovery from PTSD wasn't providing all they needed it to and they wanted to offer a space for others like them to come and heal. One of those guys is Lucas, and the moment he lays eyes on Evelyn he feels a pull towards her he can't explain, but can he stop her from running again and keep her safe when her past once again finds her?

I came across the audiobook for this on Everand and decided to give it a try. The relationship between Evelyn & Lucas was very insta-lust/lovey especially given her circumstances and past, and had this book been longer and more time been taken to develop the inital connection between them I would have been more invested overall. The suspense aspect of this was done well though, the author didn't shy away from making Evelyn's ex a threat and although the overall plot and how the characters acted were very typical of a story like this I was entertained so will read more from this series to see how I get on as this was my first book by this author. Emma Wilder & Connor Brown narrate and this was my first book by Connor, I liked his performance and would listen to him again for sure. 🌶🌶

A book that tries to be emotional but just fails to hit the mark with a lot of tropes - I feel the anguish and suffering of Evie and I loved how Lucas supports her throughout it, but the book was full of tropes for me. The villain was a very one-dimensional maniac and the ranch setting seems too good to be true. There were a lot of loose ends and the ending felt very cinematically forced. But, the love story was nice and the characters were good as well. Overall, an average romance which I will probably forget soon. I instead prefer books like [b:Safe Haven|40603730|Safe Haven|Nicholas Sparks|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1529593553l/40603730._SY75_.jpg|10829530] on the same theme. Why did Evie agreed to meet up with her friend on a dark alley when she knew the risks?!
