Surprisingly, I liked it a lot. I have no idea how it's possible that the same woman who wrote this, also wrote the Twilight saga? It is beyond me.
Hell, this book stirred a lot in me. It's been a journey, an emotional one with lots of self-doubting and such questions risen you wouldn't think to ask them until you start reading it. I loved that it awoke the undiscovered in me.
Also, even if that's clearly not the point, I have to say that personally I preferred Jared. He was just my kind of character by greater magnitude than Ian could ever be although I liked the latter a lot. I'm just wired that way. There is more of Mel in me than Wanda, I suppose. ;)
adventurous

If you've already seen the movie, I would highly recommend reading the book. It is much more engaging and complex than the movie. I could not put it down!

Watch the movie first because it handles the plot twist better. Then read the book for character depth and more perspective into the alien worlds.

Quand on lit ce livre, on se rend bien compte du white washing qu'il y a eu dans le film.

J'ai eu du mal à entrer dans le livre, mais une fois les 25% passés, ça a été. L'insomnie a aidé.

I didn’t expect to love love this book the way I do.
Before the half way mark I was sceptical that my love for the original movie didn’t help my love for this book at all and that it was missing that same oomph.
Boy was I wrong, this book has all the oomph and more.
I love it so much and I hope others have the same experience
