Enjoyed the world building.

Holds up better than the Twilight series after 15 or so years.

Again, waiting for paperback!

Interesting concept. Loved the sci-fi aspect of this book and learning about all of the other worlds the souls have lived on. The suspense, romance, and humanity of this novel was great.

Better and more interesting than Twilight in some ways. I think it probably could have been edited to be shorter, but overall it was an easy/fun read.

This is definitely not my normal pick but I trusted the recommendation of a friend. It delivered. Aliens are not usually my thing but this was an interesting (although creepy at times) plot. It dragged in the middle - I just think it could have been shorter but otherwise I enjoyed the journey. I do still have questions that I think could have been answered. I was pretty sure how it would end just not all the details.

”it’s a strange world.”

In a world that Stephanie Meyers created, it is a strange world indeed.

I know I'm late to the party, but I saw The Host at the library and just had to pick it up. Being that I loved the movie, I wanted to get the full experience to see and read the differences between both.

And I know it's crazy to say but….

I like the movie better

The Host by Stephanie Meyer is a story about an alien invasion. Unlike the popular novels and short stories of the 19th and 20th centuries, these aliens are not hostile (mostly). They are just trying to change the character of the human race by taking over their minds. The invasion begins discreetly and then moves into full force for a while. At the time the story takes place, the main invasion is over and the aliens are just mopping up the remnants of the free humans. We follow the story of Wanderer, an alien, as she is implanted into a human body. For a month or two things are normal. However, Wanderer soon starts hearing the voice of her human host, who is supposed to be dead. She goes against the advice of a counselor and follows the directions until she finds a cave filled with human survivors. She is faced with an ultimatum: either betray the humans or join them. Neither option seems very appealing, but she eventually defects to the human side and helps them remove aliens and get supplies.
The Host by the same author of the Twilight series is a very interesting twist on the common theme of alien invasion and takeover. This book would be of interest to science fiction fans and basically anyone who is interested in a good book. It really goes into the theme of someone literally being in someone else’s shoes. Read the whole book to find out how Wanderer copes with immersing herself in the human survivalist colony.

Honestly I was enjoying the story until Stephanie went full Mormon and had a second grown ass man be cool with dating a child’s body.
