This is a good one, unpredictable and well written. Can’t wait to see what Nicole Kidman does with this book because it will make a great movie!

4.5 stars. Very well written and immediately grabbed my attention. My one (small) complaint: I didn't like when parts of the story were rehashed twice - from the different perspectives. I wanted the story to keep moving forward and not take those steps backwards. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend.

HOLY COW--just like Darling Rose Gold, Pretty Things is one of those thrillers that will get you.

If psychological pageturners are your jam and you love dysfunctional families as much as I do, I'd highly recommend this wild April 2020 new book release.

Plus, the novel plays into the current Instagram influencer life, which is highly relevant today.

4.5 - great storytelling, and Julia Whelan remains my favorite narrator

Good, but not as intense as I had hoped. I enjoyed it nonetheless. The ending was a bit low key... I was expecting a much different ending. Funny how we get ideas in our heads about books we read as we read them.

Nina, who wanted nothing more than to not follow her con artist mothers way of life, is swept into that life when her mother became ill. Vanessa, a rich influencer who seems to have it all on the surface, is deeply unhappy and alone. Two very different women, who’s lives are about to collide.

I was recommended this book, and was definitely hesitate to pick it up, but I am so glad that I did. This book had twist after twist after twist, and I loved it. It was fast paced, the characters were well written and three-dimensional, the writing style perfect for keeping you wanting more. Nina & Vanessa were more interesting than likeable, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying a single part of this book. The conclusion was where this book truly shined. I thought I was at the end, knew everything and was just reading the wrap up; and then Janelle Brown had more more shocking twist to tell in a scream-out-loud “omg” moment. Highly recommend, everybody should read this book.

The book was a 3⭐️ but I also listened to the audiobook while I was dechristmassing the house, and Julia Whelan just absolutely elevates everything. So call it a median of 3.5⭐️

Although the plot had some interesting twists, the epilogue didn't end the story well (for me). I think my favorite part was not liking any of the major players. I detested then equally.

I read the 2nd half of this book in one sitting. A slow burn to a Big Bang! And beautiful writing too

If you loved Gone Girl or Girl on the Train - this is another fabulous mystery that did not go where I thought it was going to go. Couldn't put it down
