It's been so long since I read a thriller and I just loved it, it's not original, it's not something we've never read before but it worked so well!

This was a great example of an unreliable narrator. The chapters do shift from Nina Ross, the main character, to Vanessa Liebling, her generous host and mark. This is, at its surface, a tale of con people and the age-old Robin Hood story. Stealing from the extremely wealthy to give to the poor. However, you soon come to realize the narratives each woman is telling may not be the whole truth. Or rather, perhaps it's better to say they saw things not in the whole picture but in their limited experience at the moment. I have never been so moved and questioned to think from a fictional novel before. It is hard to write this review without fear of giving away important details, so I will just leave you all with this. Read this with no distractions and truly focus on the narrative Janelle Brown is telling. This is rich with subtext and is so pertinent in an age where we are so self-absorbed, that we only see a small fraction of the bigger picture. There are always several sides to one story, and this does an expert job of opening your eyes to how things are never what they seem. As some of the last words state so perfectly, "We all build our own delusions and then live inside them, constructing walls to conveniently hide the things we don't want to see."

Mostly entertaining but also very very predictable. Gets pretty skimmable for the last third of the book.

Well...this was a wild ride. Timely in regards to the images and lives that are curated and the ones that are actually lived.
