I am devastated that the next few audiobooks are only available on Audible. My heart hurts.

I enjoyed this one a lot more than the previous in the series, largely because this one has a proper beginning, middle and end. I also enjoyed being out of London for a bit and having a book set in the countryside.

As always Kobna Holdbrook-Smith’s narration was perfection.

Really enjoyed this one, which was structured slightly differently than the earlier books - a nice change of pace. Peter Grant is out of London, liaisoning with a Herefordshire investigation into the disappearance of two 11-year-old girls. He's sent there by Nightengale because there is a former wizard in the neighborhood, and Nightengale is making sure: but the Office of Professional Standards is happy to have him out of town while they investigate Peter's former colleague ... and while not much is resolved in that investigation, the girls are found (with a bonus child) and there turns out to be ample justification for Peter's attachment to the investigation. Thoroughly enjoyable.

In which Peter goes rural searching for missing girls who may have left home on/with savage unicorns. Much of the location descriptions washed over me as it was hard to imagine / orient but the concept and characters were engaging and it's so well written, I really liked the rural sidekick and the re-emergence of Lesley and the escalating dread of the final stakeout was brilliant.
