It kept me thinking, I just believe that the ending was just abit far fetched and really unbelievable and made me uncomfortable.... I think there was just one to many loose ends, but ultimately liked reading this!

Possibly my fav Feeney book? To be fair, she could probably write about socks and I would still devour that sh*t. I feel like this one was definitely darker than her other ones? Endless twists. Just kept shocking me throughout. Zero complaints.
Graphic: Child abuse, Gore, Incest, Rape, Murder
Moderate: Animal cruelty
Minor: Child death, Stalking

2.5 stars
This book - like Feeney's first novel, Sometimes I Lie - was a bit of a roller coaster. I loved the first half with the alternating timelines and the very real sense that everything is not as it seems.
After the halfway point, though, the forward motion of the plot dropped off dramatically. The police detective in charge of the case felt like a cartoon-villain caricature, the flashback storyline stagnated (and then ended abruptly), and Aimee starts acting more like the stereotypical psychological thriller protagonist: she's getting amnesia- level drunk.
The twist ending was not only something I didn't see coming, it was something that came out of nowhere. It was bizarre enough to feel very distasteful and Aimee's response to it was weird. It all just kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.
However, if you're looking for a psychological thriller that definitely breaks the mold, is short, and has an almost impossible to guess twist, you'll love this one!
