This one was not my favorite LB book, or in this particular series/set.

Perry and Derek didn't seem to have the full on chemistry that I was hoping for and it definitely was more of an insta-love. Cop/EMT, neither wanting a relationship, but attracted to each other and entering a kissing contest...

Didn't hit the spot like I'd hoped, but I'll finish the series.

The Feel Good Factor will make you smile the entire time.

When Derek McBride slightly speeds into town for the first time, it's not the typical police officer that pulls him over. Instead it's a hot redhead who becomes the fantasy who consumes his dreams. She also becomes his landlord, which quickly complicates his life. It's hard to bring those fantasies to life when Perri is the woman who provides the roof over his head.
"Holy redheaded lady-cop fantasy"-Derek

Perri Keating isn't looking for a relationship, a new tenant-yes, a promotion at work-yes, a relationship-no. When Derek rolls into town he just happens to check off a lot of her boxes when it comes to her type of guy; flirty, tattooed, bad boy. However, when he shows on her doorstep, as her new renter, after a serious makeout session, things get complicated.
"He's the stuff of panty-melting ovary explosions"-Perri

With rules in place Derek and Perri decide they can be adults and live under the same roof. Keeping their hot-for-each-other emotions under control, but also still practicing for the upcoming kissing contest which could mean, not only the promotion Perri is desiring, but also a chance to raise money for first responders. It's a sinful win-win.

Even with their hectic schedules, they experience a side of domesticality, they push their flirting to the limits, and their kissing game goes to new levels. The passion between them burns and burns until they ignite. There is no going back and there finally becomes a point where neither of them want to.

What do you do when you don't want a relationship, but you really want the person you feel everything for?

HEA, spicy! Their chemistry is so good. And the spice!? On point. I don’t always love when the characters don’t communicate well, but I understand why it’s a trope in the plot. I love how Derek is up front with a lot of what he wants and not mincing words.

I think I need to rent out a room in my house! Perri, a policewoman in Lucky Falls, meets Derek and they have instant chemistry. But a woman with goals does not have time to get involved with a hot, tattooed biker! She is looking for her promotion and he will be a distraction. Derek has come to town to help his sister out with her three kids. It's temporary, but he does need a place to stay for his own sanity. When he rents a room above a garage, it just so happens to be owned by Perri! And now their story begins. From the beginning these two just fit. But there are so many obstacles! Perri is the ultimate woman. She is smart, beautiful and knows what she wants. I love this kind of contemporary woman, she is very real. Derek is the best book boyfriend! Not only is he handsome, but he helps people and the scenes with the kids just melt your heart. Blakely has such a great way of putting her stories together. These two are perfect yet have flaws. They have fun and are funny. They are compassionate and loving. I don't know how she does this, but every book leaves me in love and feeling all warm and fuzzy! Take me to Lucky Falls again Lauren! I am ready!

Joe Arden and Erin Mallon are such a great narration team, and they truly become their characters. As Derek and Perri, they bring comedic timing, warmth, passion and love all to the forefront. Their voices and inflections are all easily relatable and the conversational style of performance makes me feel like I am right there in the scene with them. As always, it is a most enjoyable listen.

The Feel Good Factor by Lauren Blakely has another HOT, handsome, rugged from the scruff, heart-of-gold Blakely Boy by the name of Derek. Ohh, forgot to mention the tats...lots of women love tats, especially Perri. Wow, Derek’s just...everything. Derek had his heart broken by his last girlfriend so the timing was right to move and help his sister with her 3 “rugrats”. Gotta love the tatted bad boy who loves kids and family. The kids are pretty darn cute and funny, too! As Derek comes roaring into town he is stopped by our sassy, feisty, beautiful, and very smart heroine, Perri (local cop). Perri is need of a roommate to help with bills and Derek needs a place of his own. Perri’s brother Shaw helps her get a new housemate, Derek. They decide together that they cannot pursue any type of romance while sharing a house. Plus, neither one wants a relationship at this time, yeah right! Will they give in to the attraction or be hard headed and not see what is right in front of them. For a wonderful escape into another fun world reading The Feel Good Factor will make you smile, laugh some, and just be plain happy. I love Lauren’s style of writing. Her characters are strong, funny, lovable, loving, handsome/beautiful both inside and out. I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review. 5 stars*****

The Feel Good Factor was super cute, fast paced and hot. The characters, side and main, really drove this story. We met both Perri and Derek (briefly) in Best Laid Plans. I couldn't wait to get their story.

I love, love, love, that Lauren Blakely always makes her heroines strong, independent women. Perri is a well respected cop. She's thriving in a male dominated field. I enjoyed her spirit, her heart and her personality. I absolutely LOVED her friendship with her friends.

Derek is swoon city. Dirty talking sweethearts like Derek make me weak in the knees. He came to Lucky Falls to help his sister and her kids while her husband was overseas. I mean come on hottie alert. Add in his fan yourself dirty mouth, his job as an EMT, and a motorcycle, it's obvious I never stood a chance.

Unfortunately, I will admit that while I did enjoy the characters, the banter and sexiness of this book, It didn't completely wow me like some of Lauren Blakely's other books. Something was lacking for me. I'm not usually turned off by instalove but Perri and Derek's relationship may have been too instalove-ish.

Feel Good Factor is still worth a pick up. Lauren Blakely is a pro at the fun, flirty sexy books. That's why she's one of automatic one-click authors.

The Feel Good Factor by Lauren Blakely

Narrated by Erin Mallon and Joe Arden

Standalone but Related to Best Laid Plans

The Feel Good Factor just proves that Lauren Blakely doesn’t need the fancy full cast of narrators or duet narration to make an amazing audiobook. But we knew that already, it was just a good reminder after some of the amazing narrations she’s given us recently. Don’t get me wrong, Joe Arden and Erin Mallon are two of my favorites and the narration was great, but it was normal narration that switched with the POV.

It was the super sexy and fun story that really stood out in the Feel Good Factor, a perfect title for both the story and the feelings it evokes in the reader.

"Holy redheaded lady cop fantasy"

We met Perri in Best Laid Plans, but Feel Good Factor easily stands alone. She is a police officer in the small wine-country town of Lucky Falls, and she loves her job but is hoping for a promotion. When she pulls over a hot looking bad boy on a motorcycle for speeding, he can’t help but flirt with the beautiful cop.
“Tell me your name. I’m dying to know.”
“Why do you need it so badly?”
“So I know what name to say when I’m fantasizing.”

Derek is a new paramedic in town. He moved to Lucky Falls after a bad breakup and to help his sister and her three kids while her husband is deployed. Neither Perri or Derek are looking for a relationship, but when Perri needs to enter a kissing contest to earn brownie points, Derek steps in to save the day.

Let me tell you, this is definitely one of Lauren’s HOTTEST books to date, yet it also totally brings the sweet and the humor with some small-town charm. It amazes me how Lauren continues to churn out books that wow me every single time.
“Let’s get one thing straight. What is this? It’s not attraction. It’s stronger. More Intense. It’s red-hot desire. It’s raw and it’s carnal, and it’s so much dirtier than attraction.”

Likes:

  • •I love Lauren’s epilogues! Especially the double ones.

  • •Sexier than most of her recent releases.

  • •Hot dirty-talking hero.

  • •He’s amazing with his nieces and nephews (was that just my ovaries exploding?)

  • •It manages to be sweet, sexy and funny at the same time.

  • •It ties in with Best Laid Plans but it is not necessary to read it first (though you don’t want to miss it!)

  • •The audiobook bonus of Strong Suit. It’s just a little tease, but I sure enjoyed it.

  • •Every one of her characters are likable and there is never an overabundance of angst.

Dislikes:

  • •Once again, I can’t find a thing to dislike.

The Narration:

Joe and Erin are both top 5 narrators for me and they were perfect for Derek and Perri. And sigh….when Joe does little kid voices it just makes me swoon.
“This man is going to ruin me in the best possible way. Oh my.”

The Down & Dirty:

HOLY HOTNESS, The Feel Good Factor is one of Lauren’s hottest books to date and that’s saying a lot! It amazes me that Lauren can take common romance tropes and make them her own brand of funny, unique, and sexy deliciousness. She releases about 10 books a year, if not more, and every single one of them is amazing. Lauren is one of only 4-5 authors I drop everything to read, and she proves why and reinforces that with every book she releases. Do not miss The Feel Good Factor, I promise, you will feel good while reading it, you can’t help it.

Rating: 4.5 Stars, 5 Heat, 5 Narration

Purchase The Feel Good Factor by Lauren Blakely

While they each stand alone, if you are anal like me, you may want to read in order.
Don't miss the short story Strong Suit at the end, which is a spin-off on the amazing Birthday Suit.
