The plot, cover, and setting were to die for (London, yes! history, yes! researching maps in the British Library, yes! a nod to archival research, yes!) but the story could have been executed wayyyy better so I'm a bit disappointed with this one. A lot of the characters choices just weren't convincing and so much in this book didn't seem likely to really happen IRL. I got hooked in pretty quickly but once we got near the end of the book it had me bored *sigh* would I recommend picking this up to read? Yes, but don't expect too much :)

This book was really really slow. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn’t read the audiobook and if I read it in a standard book format.

I liked the buildup and stuff, but hallway through I was still kind of confused about what the plot was. And I liked Eliza, but I didn’t really have any kind of emotional attachment to the other two main characters so I wasn’t really interested in them.

This author is really great at descriptions, and I loved the atmosphere that she created and how different it was between modern day and the past.
