4.5 stars. Loved the dual timelines and audio narration. I did figure out the “twist” early on but didn’t affect the enjoyment.
I was excited to see that Karen White had ventured in to the land of WW2 historical fiction and was anxious to dive in to The Last Night in London.
This is a dual timeline with two main POV both mainly set in London. Precious is a model in London as the world is about to erupt in to war. Maddie is a current day journalist and distant relative who goes to London to meet Precious and write an article about her modeling career and fashion. Maddie soon discovers there is much more to Precious than meets the eye.
This is a story of friendship, betrayal, love and loyalty. This is a story that will keep you interested until the end.
I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

I received a free electronic ARC of this novel from Netgalley.
This book just didn't work for me. I didn't warm to any of the characters (except George the dog who should have played a much larger role). I felt Colin's stiff British upper lip and some of the other English characters were too much of a stereotype. It was also too long and could have removed a couple hundred pages without hurting the story lines.

Great story of two models who lived in London right before WW2 and the dramas of their lives of reinvention and later in 2019 and the secret that was kept. I guessed the twist early on but still enjoyed the story.
Not my favorite book by Karen white. I round up to 4 stars because the story was really good. But it could have wrapped up at least 100 pages shorter. I couldn’t seem to get through it.
(3.5 stars, rounded up)
Trigger warnings: cancer, grief, murder, war
Eva Harlow and Precious Dubose are fashion models in London during World War II. Both women are hiding secrets, including Eva's hidden identity. Eva thinks small-town Ethel isn't glamorous enough to be a model, so she's completely reinvented herself.
Eva and Precious are the best of friends before the war. Eva is dating aristocrat Graham St. John and is sad when he becomes a pilot for the RAF, leaving her and Precious alone in London. In Graham's absence, Eva finds herself embroiled in intelligence missions. But whose side is she on?
In 2019, journalist Madison Warner travels to London to interview Precious Dubose for a story about fashion during the war. During her interviews and investigations, Precious asks Maddie to find Eva if she wants the entire story.
Saskia Maarleveld and Barrie Kreinik are good narrators for the story, with one reading the wartime story and one reading the contemporary one. Maddie's Southern accent sometimes slips into a more non-regional American dialect, but other than that the performances are solid.
Recommended for fans of World War II fiction and historical women's fiction. Mystery readers will also enjoy the investigation into Eva's whereabouts.
I received an electronic galley copy of this title from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A new genre for this author, White succeeded in presenting a readable piece of historical fiction, filled with interesting and strong characters. Precious is 99 years old and ready to tell her story, particularly of life during WWII in London during the early years of the war. In a dual timeline, the present time includes Maddie, an American who was brought to London to tell the story of Precious and Eva, their careers as models, and how the war impacted fashion. Of course, there was so much more to tell, filled with love, loss, betrayal and redemption. Recommended, and thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC.
