While this wasn't as good as Mickey 7 was, I think Antimatter Blues was still a fun and engaging read. Learning more about the creepers and other factions of creatures that exist on Niflheim was by far my favorite part of the book. There isn't much character development for anyone other than Marshall, so if you found the characters in Mickey7 more interesting than the plot, this sequel may not be the thing you were hoping it would be.

On of the major gripes I had with Antimatter Blues relates to the pacing of the plot. It is pretty dull in the first half, but things pick up incredibly fast in the last 80 pages. I would have preferred for the important interactions and battles with the creepers/collective to have happened way earlier instead of it just being stuffed in the last chapters. I wish that we learned more about the collective, about what occurred after the battle, and how the colony eventually adjusts on this new planet. But I think that this frustration from my part indicates that I really enjoyed this series, and that I still want more!

Overall, I would say that this was still an enjoyable read. I just wish that there would be more character development and that the pacing of the plot was spread out some more.

These books are a little strange in pacing and plot, and read almost like dark satire of the genre. Add a twist of humor here and there and you get an always entertaining read - even though it's not very gripping or though provoking.
