Ashton's much anticipated sequel to Mickey 7 had not disappointed in the slightest. It's not often that I find myself having a reading experience as fun as with Antimatter Blues, but it was an absolutely intense, wild ride of a novel. One element that I really found strong was how the world had developed through Speaker, a diplomatic guide that Mickey must rely on as he must navigate the unfamiliar landscape of Niflheim in attempts to retrieve a missing bomb that threatens the peace of all life forms. Speaker, a creeper who previously had not spoken
, is revealed to possess the capabilities of human speech using an augmented voice box, which not only provides an alternative insight about the creepers, but showed the quirky and sarcastic personality of Speaker himself, which I thought was quite comical!

I'd have to say that I am biased in my review as the
witty characters, hive mind entities, and horrifying creatures completely capture a stunning collection
of all my favourite sci-fi elements. I did not have high expectations going into reading Antimatter Blues, but I'd have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by how much I had enjoyed this :)

Also, I thought the ending was a little flat, but it was hilarious
how ironic Command's sacrifice was for Niflheim. It was perfectly satisfying and comical haha
