Really disappointing.
How is Deanna supposed to learn from past behaviours and evolve from it, when there is no one there challenging them? Jeremy would've been the perfect character for that but all we hear are his thoughts about Deanna and their relationship and how he doesn't really trust her and then it cuts to "1 month later" and everything is perfectly fine.
He had doubts about how long he will be able to accept her line of work (although there is the implication that she might've stopped it), We don't know whether she ever tells him that she killed people, will there be any consequences for her actions..? Like how can a thin and fragile women, who isn't really that active and strong move a dead body around?? It would've been better to cut out some of Deannas repetitive thoughts about killing people (they get really boring over time since there was so little development in them) and invest some time in the parts where she gets actively confronted about here actions.
Also yes, it would've been so much better if Mikes fingerss were cut off, at least there would've been some shock factor to it.

This book's plot pulled me in from the beginning. I loved the multiple perspectives and the inevitable conclusion to one of them. I enjoyed the fact that there was no wasted time going over what we learned in book one,we just got right into the heart of things.
A satisfying follow up that sold me on Deanna's mental state and her desire to murder people way more than the first one did. The only part I maintain I can't buy is her therapist. He makes no sense, his responses make no sense, it's just...off. I'm curious what part he'll play in the 3rd book.

A.R. Torre returns with a smashing, strong psychological suspense thriller follow-up, with the famous (Deanna Madden #2) DO NOT DISTURB, the girl who gets locked in each night to keep from killing.
After reading THE GIRL IN 6E, (Deanna Madden #1), it was such a shocking, chilling and freaky book, "like no other", was blown away, and could not wait to see where the author was going to take the relationship between Deanna and Jeremy, the UPS guy.
First, let me begin by saying, "I am love with the covers". SWOON. Being in the media business, love the branding, so striking. Hoping they carry out the theme with Book #3, If You Dare, coming Nov 2015. Cover has not been released as of this date.
Second, you HAVE to read The Girl in 6E prior to reading Do Not Disturb. Otherwise you will not know the background and will not be able to appreciate the characters and their history-- Deanna, Jeremy, Mike, and Simon. With both books, I listened to the audio, which pumps up the intensity and suspense– highly recommend. Jorjeana Marie delivers a nice performance.
Third, I am not an erotica or romance fan; however, I love psychological, and crime thrillers- fans of this genre will be in love; dark, edgy, and suspenseful. Some say to write erotica, just babble on with the nasty, lots of sex, and the down and dirty. Quite the opposite.
Both these books are well written; Torre, gets into her character’s heads, their emotions, and thoughts, especially with the second book, now that Deanne is breaking out of her shell, testing herself, back into the real world, little by little. I enjoy Deanne’s attitude (except she was a bit hard on Mike, this time). Thank you, A.R. Torre, for the revision of your ending to spare those we love.
We pick up with Deanna from book one. She has a fear of human interaction and an obsession with murder. Her mother killed her entire family and committed suicide. Her name was attached, and she inherited some traits from her mom, her homicidal tendencies.
She now stays away from people and changed her name. Her inner demons have driven her inside these walls for the last three years, and she works for Sexnow.com and Cams.com. She has everything delivered, makes good money, and never leaves her apartment, until now.
She is a cybersex killer who stays locked in her apartment to keep from unleashing her killer instinct. She is falling in love with Jeremy, the UPS delivery guy (he is a doll and so patient with her).
She still is a virgin, and they have had no sex. Now she is leaving her apartment and buying a car. Mike, her computer genius guy, works hard to keep the bad clients away, being her watchdog. Simon is there every night to make sure she is locked in.
One of her new clients, a former investment banker terrible guy gets out of jail on probation, with counts of rape, among other things. He wants sex, and he is not nice.
When he dials into her website for cybersex, he is controlling and demanding, and Deanne will not tolerate a lack of respect. This guy is out for revenge and learns more about her, and those close to her. He is going to make her pay.
For the first time she has to worry about two other lives, and it is now more than just herself. Slowly her walls start to break.
However, will this guy cause her to kill again to protect those she loves and cares for? We have to wait and see what will happen next. Is love better, and stronger than her affliction, and could it possibly be her salvation?
I still cannot help but think about the UPS guy, as my single son was a driver for UPS for about 12 years, and could see him in this situation. Cannot wait for #3 If You Dare - A tantalizing "much talked about"series; Torre does not disappoint!
Enjoyed Torre's personal note at the end of the audio, about the writing of the series.

This second installment of the Deanna Madden series is even better than the first! I rarely find sequels that are better than the original but A.R. Torre really brought it with Do Not Disturb. The series already follows a heavily flawed and mentally sick protagonist that you can’t help but love despite her murderous tendencies. The second book adds to the list of well-written, complicated, and seriously f’ed up characters with the deeper background on one of my favorite supporting characters Mike! And even better, the villain of this novel is so perfectly written, I just wanted more and more. Marcus is the type of villain you love to hate with every fiber of your being and want nothing more than the villain to get a proper dose of their own medicine.
I really enjoyed my time with this read and hope the third and final book can live up to the first two.

4.5 stars. I only slightly didn't love it as much as the first one, but I still fucking love this series. The suspense is so good that the build up is frustrating at times. The writing for the multiple POV's in this one was IMPECCABLE. Marcus' chapters made me afraid to fall asleep at night. Again, love it & highly recommend.
dark
tense
medium-paced
A little boring at times, but still really really good!

Kurzmeinung
Eine spannende und ungewöhnliche Prämisse.
Die Sexszenen waren heiß, die Thrillerszenen waren spannend. Ich fühlte mich kurzweilig und gut unterhalten. Was will man mehr? Ich mag Deanna. Und ich mag die Serie. Der dritte Teil ist noch nicht übersetzt also lese ich ihn, wie den ersten auch, auf Englisch.

All reviews in one place: Night Mode Reading
Deanna enjoys the little freedoms she gave herself due to newly found improvement on self control. Life’s getting better, it seems. She, her psychotic murderous self, has a boyfriend, bought a fancy new car, and crossed the street for a snickers bar, all without killing anyone. Only her doctor is honestly worried about all of this. In his opinion, her steps are too fast, and will result in slipping and killing. Here he and Deanna agree only on one thing: it is not her who might be in danger, it is the people around her.
After long years in jail he’s finally free. Only a few more months of house arrest, and he can return to his life fully. Life of money, power, respect, women. To pass the time he seeks women online for the time being, until he stumbles upon a cam-girl site, where girls engage with you via their web cams. And there she is, that one, beautiful, with defiance in her eyes. There was something wrong there from the moment he asked her what can he make her do. Just a little bit later she actually made him ask for things nicely. She made him ask. And then, when he asked to meet her in real life, offering her plenty of money for it too, she dares to outright block him! Ah, but that’s fine. All he needs is someone skilled with computers, someone who can give him her real address. And then he’ll teach her respect. They all learn under his breaking hands. Deanna Madden is no exception.
This was one hell of a ride. The story is strong, and interesting to follow. I enjoyed it far more than the first book, and hey, I loved that one too. So here’s a 5 out of 5, well deserved.
