This book was a bit complicated for me. It was told by Ryder and Willa, two soccer players who end up paired together for a project and start off as frenemies but by the end....it deals with diverse ability representation but also death of a parent, so be forewarned.

we get to know the characters well and it’s amazing how they grow in the book. i love how they are both reassuring for each other’s struggles.
the relations with their families is also something i quiet enjoyed. it was able to give us characters with dimensions.
i would love to get more about Ryder’s disability, not just being told but shown when it was his pov. also, he was too good to be true but im fine with it.
Willa has her trust issues which i totally understand but i feel like she expects to be understood when hiding something while she’s very hard with Ryder when he does the same. But this also gave her “imperfections” which made her more realistic.
the professor was totally unethical and despite understanding the importance for the plot it was just meh. and it’s a bit annoying how he kept pushing Ryder and setting people to talk to him and not letting them know he couldn’t hear them.

I’m giving it a 4,5 instead of a 5 because sometimes the way the topic of Ryder’s deafness and muteness was handled made me uncomfortable.
