It takes a bit to get into the story, but by the end, I found myself enjoying it a lot. Definitely going to finish the series since there are some background characters that I am curious to see how their lives pan out.
A bit of a miscommunication trope in the novel, but there’s reasons behind it that make the trope less annoying.
Overall, I’d give it 3.5 stars. I’d read it again, but there were some things that could’ve improved.

I am so glad that the author chose not to do the beautiful transformation for the FMC in the end when she finds her version of a happy ending. The people that truly loved her did not look upon her with disgust because of her accident and she also began to accept her scars. Happy to see that her happy ending didn’t come with a transformation.

I love fairytale retellings, so I read a lot of them. This was so unique and really spun the tale into a new story. This was my second reading of this book and I was just as hooked as the first time!! The magic system is so unique and I get so attached to the characters.

i like the plot and how the storyline progressed. it felt very slow paced for me and even though it is a long book, it felt even longer. regardless, i liked it and plan to continue reading the books from this series.
This story was entertaining and surprised me several times. I enjoyed the growth and change in the characters. The way the story evolved was enough to keep me locked in all day.
