Love the diversity, the representation and normalization of two dads, that one of the characters is in a wheelchair, that the author teaches magic tricks throughout and that it’s by NPH.

This book didn't capture my attention at all. The personalities of the Magic Misfits seemed more caricatures than real. The twins spouted nonsense almost the entire book and Theo barely had a presence in the story. I think Harris's intention is to go through the different members of the society and focus on their story, but I don't want to wait that long to get a feeling for who some of these kids are. It might be too many characters in such a small page frame. At this point I don't have the motivation to continue on with this series. The stories aren't intriguing me and the over arching mystery isn't grabbing me either.

Such a fun series. Good characters, fun mystery, scary booby traps. We’ve been doing a lot of Morse code in our house as a result of this book. Did the first book in audio (excellent audiobook! NPH reads), but read the second aloud. We’ll definitely be reading the third.

I liked that this book was in Leila's perspective. I hope the next book is in Theo's or Ridley's perspective. I also love how this series continues to be diverse. There was something that was supposed to be a surprise twist but I saw it coming early on. Younger readers might not.

cute and sweet story! just like the first book, we follow one members of the Magic Misfits, and this time its' Leila. I loved her character and the way she deals with the thing that happen around her.
things were more predictible than in the first book, but I still enjoyed it a lot.
the main twist was so obvious because of the cover, but I was invested that totally ignored it and was a little bit surprized by it

also loved puzzles with morse code and the hidden alphabet. wish i had book in the hands, so I could solve them this way.
definitely going to read with my nephews and hope they would like it as much as i did.

Love that this story focused on Leila. Of course it still included the rest of the Misfits, and there were even some other characters from the first book that made an appearance in this one.

This is a great middle-grade series, and one I plan to introduce to my great-niece.
