Slightly better than book 1 cause Lestat is just quite the character. The middle is SOOO slow, but the ending is REALLY good. TBH I had to look up a chapter summary on reddit which gave me life and the ability to finish this. Only really stuck with it cause I was reading it with friends so that we can watch the Queen of the Damned movie together :')

I read this as a stand-alone introduction to Anne Rice’s series The Vampire Chronicles
Based on the origins of Lestat, it follows his baby vampire days.. I found this very slow paced, it took me so long to finish as I never felt drawn to picking it up. A very reflective vampire novel, with a morally grey character. A little snobby at times.

This is the second of three books in The Vampire Chronicles series. The Vampire Lestat was introduced in Interview With The Vampire. In The Vampire Lestat, Lestat tells his story. It is written as an autobiography. It starts in the current time as of the book's publication. It quickly goes back around 200 years to the period before Lestat was turned into a vampire. He was part of a noble family in France that had fallen on hard times. Lestat was a great hunter who helped keep the family afloat. He was taken for granted by the other family members except for his mother. He longed to get out of the life he was born into to something greater. The story goes from there to the present day. I enjoyed this book a lot.

This book made me feel insane. But damn did it make me feel something. Do read content warnings.
Lestat smokes weed. Way more gay sex than the first book.
