Chociaż motywów, które niektórzy mogą uznać za kontrowersyjne i problematyczne (chociażby relacja Lestata i jego matki) wciąż nie brakuje, Wampir Lestat jest pozycją całkiem ciekawą i zdecydowanie do budowy tego uniwersum bardzo ważną. To tutaj Anne Rice rzuca nam najwięcej informacji dotyczących mitologii wampirzej, a także skupia się w całości na przybliżeniu czytelnikowi historii centralnej postaci, czyli tytułowemu Lestatowi. Rice dużo czasu poświęciła na research związany z Francją tego okresu, a także innymi obszarami, które odwiedzamy w tej podróży nie tylko w przestrzeni i czasie, i to widać, co bardzo doceniam. Z pewnością wyczuwalne są jednak dłużyzny, dużo mamy opowiadania o wydarzeniach niż opisywania ich dokładnie, co z pewnością sprawi, że nie będzie to książka dla każdego, ale wypada ona moim zdaniem barwniej niż książkowy *Wywiad z Wampirem*.

A solid read, very entertaining. I’ll probably continue reading this series between my other books since there are so many of them but so far the first two have read well as stand alone books. This one did have a bit of a cliffhanger though so I may pick up the next one sooner rather than later.
