Ojalá lo hubiera hecho, aunque tal vez mi yo del pasado no hubiese apreciado de la misma manera la obra de Anne Rice.
Tantos años alargando la lectura de esta saga por miedo a que no me encantase, a sentirme decepcionada por la prosa de la madre de los vampiros... pero me alegra decir que ha sido todo lo contrario y que tal vez estaba escrito que leyera en este momento estos libros.
Lestat me ha encontrado a mí, ha estado esperando todos estos años a convertirse en mi vampiro favorito, paciente esperando a que me sentase a leer su maravillosa historia y regalarme reflexiones profundas.
Porque este libro es reflexivo y profundo, cargado de grandes verdades y llega a conclusiones sobre la vida y la humanidad tan reales que traspasan páginas.
Estoy deseando seguir acompañando a Lestat en este viaje y os aseguro que se convertirá en un tema recurrente en mi cuenta (sorry not sorry). Su historia ha sido mi mejor lectura de lo que llevamos de año y yo tengo un nuevo libro favorito.

I feel like I somewhat ruined the experience for myself by waiting almost a year after reading IWTV, especially considering that this has been waiting on my shelf for half a year. Definitely has its flaws and some things didn’t age as well but that’s to be expected. I also have a clear preference for the chapters set in the modern day (so really just the prologue and epilogue).

It's clear why Anne Rice is the mother of the genre. The scope of history and origin stories she covers in this work is incredibly impressive. That does give it more of a feel of a textbook than a novel at times, and I often found myself lost or my mind wandering, especially between the switching narrative voices. Not the most enjoyable reading experience, but my rating is more reflective of the significance of the work and depth of the character. I may have to find someone to explain to me the relevance of Lestat's oedipal complex... but apart from that, he's an engaging and many faceted character.

way too many thoughts like vampiric incest and “monsieur le rock star” and the origins of vampires and akasha and rockstar lestat and the gilded poetry that is anne rice’s prose and especially loustat my beloveds oh i cry and weep im so normal and not obsessive clearly
