What do you think the end of the world would be like? That question is asked multiple times before the characters end up experiencing it at a remove - safe in a haven somewhere the group of 20 and 30 somethings realize they may be the last people alive and their longtime friend/new acquaintance is an alien who has brought about the apocalypse.
I would have liked the characters to engage more with the mystery elements earlier in the story, but after one character spends less than one day 'investigating' he decides he doesn't want to play the game. (I'm like, what else are you going to do??) Instead they mope around and order a multitude of things through 'alienzon' and ...I just felt like it took a lot of time for things to get going. Once they do the final chapter basically throws that progress away - which was frustrating. But, the concept was interesting enough that I'll pick up the next volume and see if it picks up.
One character is trans and in flashbacks the authors use her deadname - which there are many ways they could have still included those scenes without deadnaming her. Even if other characters are either mistakenly or maliciously deadnaming her they could put it scribbled out/redacted etc.

Amazing art. I can't wait to see where the story goes, but I really have to say: gorgeous art. I'm so glad I have my own copy so I can look back through at my own leisure to see how well the style and details elevate the story.
i must say, i was not expecting much - my colleague had ordered it for the library but i knew nothing about the plot except it was weird. And well, it is weird but also very cool and i was not expecting so much representation in a comic made by a white dude, but here we are

Creepy and mysterious with fantastic artwork. I'm looking forward to seeihng where this story goes...
Art work, pacing, and panel work - amazing. However, the horror element was all upfront and died off near the end. I like when horror is left a little open ended and I personally found that a little too much was explained but at the same time, it really feels like there is more to this story (like - how did they go from the haven looking like heaven to the orange burnt out destroyed place we see glimpses of?).
Edited : This is definitely not the end and I'm bumping my rating back up to 5 stars after reading Vol. 2.
