I love everything about this. The storyline, art style, and dialoge are lovely. The concept itself is so jarring to contemplate but equally as fascinating.

A group of thirty-something, former college acquaintances find themselves trapped in a futuristic house by the lake after receiving a sinister invitation. They have to solve a mystery to escape but the truth is deeper and stranger than any of them want to know. More sci-fi than horror, this series has a strong concept and some truly phenomenal artwork but is lacking in other departments, notably the dialogue. This is a series where a group of educated, successful adults spend almost all their time yammering on like teenagers. I kept hoping for someone to sound like the intelligent adults they supposedly are but nope It wants us to buy that they’re brought together because they’re all these brilliant minds but the execution is self-defeating. Theres a nice mood and it captures the readers imagination and, I must repeat, some of the art is just stunning. It’s intriguing, like a horror adjacent Lost but mired in purple prose and pretension.
Creepy sculptures and haunted lake vibe were nice. I loved the art style for this, definitely helped to give it a spooky vibe, but I was just confused on the actual story? It was hard to see where it was going.
2.5 ⭐️ rounded up because the art and overall creepy vibe really helped sell it.

Walter’s friends all agreed that he’s a little odd, but when he invites them all to a week away at a vacation house on a lake, they find it hard to turn them down. The house is seemingly perfect and stocked with anything they could ever want. But then something happens, and they discover that Walter is not who they thought and there’s something bigger going on. What will they do now that they know?
This is a delightfully disturbing and mind-bending and horrifying graphic novel. It was not what I expected, but it is much better than what I expected and is much better because of the surprise. The art is amazing and suits the story wonderfully. My only complaint is that trying to learn a dozen people all at once in a graphic and all their various interconnections is hard, but it is worth the brain power to keep it all straight. Really looking forward to seeing where this story goes.

When a loosely connected group of friends is invited out by their mutual - and certainly strange - friend for a getaway at a gorgeous lake house, you know something is going to go wrong. And boy, does it ever in this outstanding opening volume of a tale of…you know what? Best to just go in without knowing any more. If you like Tyrion’s other work, you’ll love this. And if you’re unfamiliar, then here is what you need to know. This is a story that begins with the distant promise of severe menace, swiftly delivers on that promise and then begins a slow burn to figure out why exactly things are they way they are and what can be done about it. The narrative expectations here are expertly inverted, and while this is still all setup, it has me very eager to read what comes next.
Tynion crafted a great mystery as well as dynamic characters. I’ll definitely be picking up the next volume!
This didn’t draw me in as much as I thought it would, but it’s a rad concept that i come back to, and the art is great. I will read future volumes to be sure.
