I think the magic of this last book is that it’s everything we hoped for, but nothing we would have expected.
While the previous books were filled with the thrill of each feast, this one feels more like a ticking clock, you know the story is coming to an end, you know what you want by the end of it and you’re afraid there won’t be enough time, enough pages, for it to happen. There is this feeling of finality to it.
Sierra Simone once more created a book full of love, hurt and even hate, she created such poignant characters that you can almost feel what they feel just through words. I had such high expectations for this last book and I was not disappointed. Every love story evolves one last time in this complicated manner it always did in the previous books, Auden's love for Saint and Poe (and all the others) is so strong that you understand that this book only ever could be from the Thorn King's point of view. While there are not as many plot twists in Door of Bruises than in the previous books, you will not be able to stop reading, you will have to know the end.
After knowing how the New Camelot trilogy had ended, I was certain that Sierra wouldn’t break my heart with that ultimate book, but she kind of did in a certain way. It was bittersweet, it made my heart ache so much because I just wanted to cry for them. It might seem stupid, but I feel like reading this series isn’t like reading any other book. The magic of Thornchapel seeps into you, you can feel its thrum inside you, thorns filling your heart bit by bit.
That is a lot of nonsense just to say that I adored this book, that I still feel a bit stunned and I don’t know how much time it will take me to recover. It’s the same feeling as when you wake up from an amazing dream and try to go back to sleep to continue it but never manages to. I don’t think I’ll ever find another book like the Thornchapel ones, but that’s maybe why they will always have such a special place in my heart. So maybe this is not a review, maybe this is my eulogy to this series which changed me more than I ever expected it to when I picked up this apparently smutty book with good BDSM content.
I can’t believe I won’t ever go back to Thornchapel and maybe that’s the saddest part of all of it.

I enjoyed this conclusion, and I felt it wrapped the last of the mysteries up nicely. The last few chapters made me ugly cry and stay up past midnight to finish. Worth every minute, this is definitely a new favorite series.

HOLY HE** that was an amazing end to the series! Well worth the wait. I hate to spoil anything so I'll be fairly vague here, but this is SO much more than a romance, this is a whirlwind, an adventure I wholeheartedly recommend taking! Intrigue, suspense, you are literally going to be on the edge of your seat trying to figure out the puzzle at the heart of this series. It is a satisfying journey to say the least! I love this author's writing, she just sucks you right in, and you WILL feel it in your heart and soul, cannot say it enough, this series has every single thing and is scorching hot in parts to boot!
It was heartbreaking, gut wrenching and soul crushing! I loved every single second of it.
I have started living with these six people over these four books. I feel sad because we are parting. I wish there was a story about what it’s like behind the door.
I hated Auden in book1, but here I am, loving him almost as much as I love Saint.
5/5 ⭐️
This is my 3rd series by Sierra, and I’m always mind blown.
