This finale torn me apart, the whole series is a masterpiece, you mind will be blown, so many questions and yet not enough, Going into the series I knew it was going to be a ride of a lifetime, every book I have read so far by Sierra Simone has, they are in their own category. The story will intertwine in your mind, will have you feeling like you are in the middle of the ocean with waves crashing over you from all sides, yet you keep reading. I can't really say more about this book as I don't want to give anything away, but let's be real, if you are reading the summary for this book, either you already have read the previous ones an of course you must read this one, or you want to see if the whole series is worth reading, my answer is yes, if you know Sierra Simone you know her writing, if you are discovering her, well strap yourself and star reading. Brilliant 5 stars, definitely a WTF did I just read series that is totally worth every page.

Omg this series is so extra. There’s pagan rituals, orgies, virgins, bdsm, a door to the faerie realm, ghost dreams, premonition dreams, a faerie plague, human sacrifice, possible incest, normal relationship drama, sexual assault, actual faeries, more orgies, people crying tears that are actually rose petals, Catholicism (god, so much—too much—Catholicism), breaking vows, parents of MCs who also did/had all these things, and then honest-to-god leaving this plane for the faerie realm. It’s a lot. And I felt a bit like a frog in a pot of boiling water by the time faerie plagues and rose petal tears showed up in book four. Like, the fantasy elements are very much secondary to the orgies and bdsm until that point, but then Sierra Simone just full-on commits to the fantasy in the final installment. And I respect that.

‘We are all of us bound together by thorns. We are all of us a family like the world has never seen.’<
‘What unites the two halves of me? What joins the teeth in the night to the tenderness, the love, the sacrifice? It can only be a humble heart.’<
Door of Bruises brings us on quite a journey of self discovery. Auden, Poe & Becket all truly will go to any length to save their friends and feel it is their own burden to do so. Rebecca has to decide if she wants to live her life alone or if she can forgive Delphine (who decides she wants more than just a mistress). Saint...has to make his choice-blind faith & love or be alone with glimpses of happiness.

Sierra did a phenomenal job of working things out for everyone and closing the Door.

Wow, I’m still processing that ending!! I loved the book but I feel like crying, even though it ended with a HEA. This was the final book of the series and Sierra always writes the best stories, I really enjoyed the kinky scenes, the romance, the rituals and the story in general.

Auden and Saint were my favorite, I wanted them to be together from book one and I’m glad Saint chose Auden at the end, despite what the results were. I loved reading their scenes, especially the kinky ones, they were perfect for each other and I’m glad the three of them ended up together.

Rebecca and Delphine were amazing too, the relationship between them was inevitable, and even though they suffered at the time, at the end they found their way back to each other.

I was suffering with the last few chapters, I had no clue what was about to happen, but I didn’t want anyone to die, so I’m glad it ended like that and understand what the sacrifice really meant.

“As they go into the trees, Auden hears singing from the chapel. Something like a hymn, old and Latin and beautiful. A benediction, maybe. Or a blessing. Convivificat.”

Now I can’t wait to see what Sierra has in mind for us, I only know I’m here for anything she decides to write.
