I liked the ending. I had a hard time with part one-a lot of girlish insecurity and the guy proving himself in what felt like an unbalanced relationship.

Slammed is the rather odd story of a girl who moves from Texas to Michigan and falls in love with her high school teacher who is actually only a few years older than her. But there is also parental death, annoying younger brothers (who are the silver lining in this series, in my opinion) and, amid the rest, poorly written slam poetry.

In the second book of the Slammed trilogy, Layken unearths a truth about Will that threatens to destroy their relationship. Will must prove his loyalty to Layken in order to keep her by his side. Sometimes, things must fall apart before they come together; could the same be true for Layken and Will?

(I wish I was invested enough in the series to care about the answer to that question but I kind of wanted them to break up at this point tbh.)

meh.....pfftt....yawn...

SO good. I'm not sure it was better than the first, but definitely equal, which is high praise for a sequel in my book. I was a little worried about the cliche ex-girlfriend plotline taking too much of the focus, but it only sort of did. I felt like Lake and Will handled some realistic issues that they needed to and showed their immaturity of age a bit before growing together and gaining the experience with the help of some friends and those beautiful notes from Julia. I definitely teared up multiple times in this one!

Ok, I love this series. The emotions that I felt while reading this book were all over the place. This Girl couldn't come any sooner!

I thought "Point of Retreat" was good, but it wasn't as good as "Slammed". For some reason the story felt rushed and not fully developed. I felt like the plot was really picking up, and then it just ended and fell a little flat. I am hoping that the third book ("This Girl") finishes the story in a well and thought out way, but I am a little nervous that won't happen. According to other reviews it's basically a flashback of "Slammed" from Will's POV and additional scenes. We shall see.

Slammed was better. Debating on if I should read the last in the series or not. Sadly you could of put this one in the Same book as Slammed and had a great book..

While I loved getting more of their story, it seemed like there were forced obstacles just to extend the series. I did still like it because I’m a sucker for CoHo but I like some of her other books much better. Not sure if I’ll read the third.
