10 Butterflying Stars.

I have never read a book from an author who can wrench my soul to no end. I have to say that in the beginning of this book I was not sure I was going to like it as much as Slammed. But about 5% into the book I was hooked and did not want to lay it down.

I want to say that Kierstan is my new very best friend. I think she will be yours if you read this book. This book was heart-wrenching it was brilliant and I loved 95% of the book the other 5% I only liked. Will and Lake go through it all and it is so refreshing to read a book where that the characters are adults and watching them grow together is amazing. I loved it and I am so reading this girl next.

All in all my feelings for this book are much the same as the first. I still found the plot line cliche and repetitive and I feel that the main characters are making drama out of nothing. One difference that I liked was that this book was written from Will’s POV and I think he was a little more mature and I did rather enjoy seeing him make decision which you know as the reader will end in tears…

As with book 1, it was a mildly entertaining book but nothing to shout about.

Such a delightful & heartwarming book!
Thank you a million Colleen, for reviving my floundering soul after two months of slump.

Initially, I was terrified of even picking up Point of Retreat to read the synopsis because of how much I loved Slammed.

I thought to myself, "Oh fuck. This is going to be like every other trilogy I've ever read. I'm going to love the first one in such a huge bordering on unhealthy way, and then the second is going to suck and I'm going to be rabid mongoose angry and yell and throw stuff. Nope, I'm not reading Point of Retreat, I'm just not."

But I did.

And I survived and I can tell you it was just as amazeballs as Slammed.

Now I'm waiting for This Girl to come out and I'm not being very patient about it!

Review: I thought I wouldn't like reading the whole book in Will's POV but I do. So much. Point of Retreat is a hundred times better then Slammed. Didn't think it was possible but it's true.

“If I were a carpenter, I would build you a window to my soul. But I would leave that window shut and locked, so that every time you tried to look through it all you would see is your own reflection. You would see that my soul is a reflection of you.”

Point of Retreat continues Will and Lake's journey about a year after Slammed. Lake's mother has passed away but both them are staying strong. It's insane how strong both of them are. Life has thrown so many obstacles in their life and yet they keep going. Even in this book they have to go through some really rough and scary stuff.

“My heart pounds against my chest. Not because I'm nervous. Not even because I want her worse that I've ever wanted her before. It's pounding against my chest because I realize I've never been so sure about the rest of my life than I am in this moment. This girl is the rest of my life.”

Will is amazing! If there were any doubts about how he feels about Lake (which there never was) then reading Point of Retreat completely clears them up. He loves her with everything he has. He's so considerate, sweet, funny and just a stand up guy. I wish there were more Will's out there because I would love to have one of my own. Of course everyone makes mistakes, even Will but I completely understand why he decided to not bring up Vaughn his ex girlfriend to Lake. But when Lake finally does find out about her (in the worse way possible) she starts to question their relationship. Point of Retreat definitely wasn't lacking in the drama department but just like Slammed it wasn't annoying or over dramatic.

"Sometimes two people have to fall apart to realize how much they need to fall back together"

Just like the previous book, my favorite part of the book is the poetry. I've never really paid attention to poetry much less slam poetry but after this series I really want to go to one. It's so powering and I really felt the emotions when I read the poems. I'm not even ashamed to say some parts of the book brought tears to my eyes. If there's one thing that I love about Colleen Hoovers writing it's the way the words flow perfectly and her story really capture your heart.

"I want to have friends that I can trust, who love me for the man I've become...not the man that I was.-The Avett Brothers"

Lake and Will have a lot of issues to face in this book but with the help of friends and family they get through it. I especially loved the new mini Eddie named Kiersten who moved onto their street. She's just like Eddie and she's definitely wise beyond her years. It's not just Lake and Will that make this story amazing, it's all the characters.

“I love being with yo so bad
When we aren't together, I miss you so bad
One of these days I'm going to marry you so bad
and it'll be
so
so
good.”

Definitely one of the best books I've read this year. I'm sad to see this is the end of the road for Will and Lake's story but the ending is more then satisfying. And of course, we still get to read Slammed in Will's POV which I can't wait for. If you haven't read this series yet...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???! Will Cooper.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! Excellent book. Excellent follow up to slammed. Excellent read. I know we asked for a perspective from Will and yes I saw the "teaser" you have from the next book that is once again from what I can tell in Will's perspective, but I need more Lake! Hopefully this upcoming book will be from two perspectives? Or possibly a 4th?!

In any case. Read this. Excellent series so far. Love Lake, Love Will.

If you don't like this. Go butterfly yourself.
