While I've wanted to read this for a really long time, It was just ok. Too many secondary characters in my opinion. I'm glad that her writing has definitely gotten better. I remember reading some of Scottoline's books in this series (Rosato & Associates) and enjoying them immensely. From what I recall, the firm is mainly made up of women.
I enjoy legal thrillers but this one fizzled towards the end. Not sure if the author already had plans for a follow up. Reading it now I know it became a series.

2-1/2 stars. I subtracted half a star because
I had to keep reminding myself that this was written back in the early 90s, in a social culture that was very different. I lived through that time period as an adult, so I remember what it was like for certain attitudes to be the mainstream default, but someone younger than me might have a harder time connecting to the characters.

I think it's cheating when an author wants both a) to have the satisfaction of killing off the villain and b) to avoid the ethical/moral implications of their hero intentionally killing someone, and so they use circumstances/deus ex machina to do the deed.I had to keep reminding myself that this was written back in the early 90s, in a social culture that was very different. This book took me by surprise. I had decided to try out a mystery for my second book to read and I ended up favoring this one. I did not guess who was stalking Mary. I am interested in seeing where the story will go.

Kind of started in the middle, and now trying to fill in plot holes. I’m loving this series, the characters, the good pace, pure entertainment!
This was not one of my favorite books of Lisa Scottoline's. I enjoy her more recent books better but still enjoyed reading this one. I've added the 2nd in the series to my list of books to read :)
This book was fine ... Not my favorite, but I'm looking forward to the rest of the series! She's come so far as an author...
My first Lisa Scottoline book, and I enjoyed the ride. A great legal thriller!
