I read the first novella, Defy, in this series yesterday and absolutely loved it. I wanted to keep reading in this universe. I enjoyed Vicious as well but I did not enjoy the two main characters as much as Jamie and Melody. Vic, Baron, wasn't that interesting to me or maybe just not as like-able. Emilia though was a favorite and I enjoyed the banter the two of them had. I am going to read the next one in the series.
Vicious won me over numerous times
Vicious stole my heart. The growth he went through. He evolved more then Pokémon do. Dean was a jerk and I honestly hope he gets run through ringer in his book, because he deserves it after what he did to Vicious. Emilia grew, but not as much as Vicious did. All in all I loved this book.

*3.7/5 stars this book was okay typical enemies to lovers but i couldn’t really care for vicious or emilia. but did i finish this in less than 24 hours. yes. it was very addicting
I am a massive, massive fan of enemies-to-lovers and/or bad-boys-turned-good. All of my favorites fall into these categories.
That being said..... I wanted to love this book. In theory, it's everything I absolutely love. However, my all-time, 100% favorite part of these books is the redemption of the complete douchehole and this DESPERATELY fell short.
Did he redeem himself?.....ehhh, I *guess* but I feel like he lost his redemption chances WAY WAY before the actual redemption.
The thing is....he wasn't just an a$$hole to the FMC. He was horrible to everyone, including his best friends. To be fair, Dean was equally as disgusting to him. I always thought the 'bro code' was if a guy was interested, it was hands-off for the 'other bros'.
The whole thing was despicable and it just went way way too far. These are people's lives you're messing with. Especially when he KICKED HER OUT OF THE STATE at only 18 years old?!?!?!? That's not okay.....
I really liked Millie a lot - which is another thing that is really important for me. I can't stand a girl who just 'bends over and takes it' and she absolutely does not (thank God!). I love how she stands up to him and I love, love, love how she seems to never break down.
I have to say that the Christmas scene is where this book took a turn for the worst for me. This was essentially the straw that broke the camel's back. The fact he just completely abandoned her and then kept pestering her and getting mad because she wasn't there for him....nope, that was it for me. He crossed the uncrossable line at this point. No excuse. I don't care if he was preoccupied. I don't care if every cell tower short-circuited across the US. He had every opportunity to let her know he was leaving before he left. He didn't care.
And then to call Georgia? Nope. I don't care if he didn't go through with it. It shouldn't have even crossed his mind.
I was glad that his dad didn't leave everything to him, but I was really hoping he was going to do something asinine like leaving it to a homeless shelter or something lol! I didn't want Jo to get it, either. She deserved losing everything! But, I'm sorry, Vicious didn't deserve anything either.
Oh and another thing. I hope I'm not the only person who noticed this, but the author either forgot certain details in scenarios or she didn't remember to tell US the details.... for instance, when Millie came in carrying the iPad...conveniently, they ended up with their hands all over each other but never mentioned her dropping or putting down the iPad. Also, on the rooftop, he puts his hands down her pants and then tells her about the gallery and she gets teary eyed and then he's smoking a blunt and she's dancing.....what happened to his hand in her pants? LOL! It might be insignificant, but both times I was screaming at the book telling the author "what about their hands?!?!" rofl
Also, just as an aside --- it's probably just a MAJOR coincidence lol --- I read a lot of books. Like usually a book a day (2 days, tops) and I had to go back through the books I've read in the last 7 days because nearly every character in this book had the same name as characters in books I've read in the last couple days! One book even had THREE of the same characters! hahahaha! It was super creepy. I thought maybe this was like a spin-off of a series or something crazy because it was so surreal! (even the baby *Luna* was the FMC name in a book I read 3 days ago.......)

This was cute. I rent Truly Madly Deeply and this is a much darker play on the second chance romance that LJ Shen tends to favor. But I enjoyed it and rhe tension building was excellent

I’ve fallen in love with LJ Shen’s writing. This book didn’t have a whole lot of spice but it had just enough to get me hooked.. starting the 2nd one soon!
This series is going to be amazing! Vicious absolutely owned my heart. Emilia was freaking awesome!! She didn't take any sh*t from Baron jr. and, the fact that he was out of his mind in love with Emilia made this book that much sweeter!
Make sure you read this book!!!
