I'm disappointed because the idea for the plot was so intriguing but then then the execution just fell flat, it just turned into a sex-fest with the plot development being a tad neglected. Do not like the MC's at ALL.

Okay so I absolutely love Christina Lauren, so I thought I’d check out their first series. I knew it was fanfic and I knew it’d be steamy, but I was disappointed to find it did not have the substance, character development, dialogue and heart that their other books do. I liked the characters of Bennett and Chloe by the end, but I think that there needed to be more build up to the steamy bits. It was like the 10th page and they were already hooking up, and the scene made me kind of uncomfortable, male boss making a move on his female intern in a conference room after hours alone...I needed more tension and time for that scene to be satisfying and not creepy. Some of the dialogue and the panty ripping (and keeping?!) was weird and uncomfortable, but the characters have the potential there to be great. I’m undecided whether I will read the next one, because I’m curious to see if Chloe and Bennett’s characters are more developed and it’s not just sex. Overall I would say if you’re looking to read a Christina Lauren book, I would go for Love and Other Words, Twice in a Blue Moon, or Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating! I’m honestly not upset that this one wasn’t as good considering it was started online and as fanfic, and I still love Christina Lauren <3

I loved it mainly because it was so superficial and as deep as a sheet of paper. I mean that in the nicest way possible. After reading a few dark, twisted and angst filled books, I NEEDED something that just wasn't. I still think I would have liked Beautiful Bastard even if I hadn't just came out of the 'dark' so to speak.

Bennett and Chloe, you never knew if they were going to kill each other or F***! That is what made them so fun!!Boss & Intern, never a good idea, but always combustible. I did an internship several years ago, unfortunately my boss was a tool and few inches shorter than me!!

I assume the really bad reviews were from the lack of depth? Deep isn't always good....keep your mind out of the gutter on that one!! Bennett even though you were an asshat most of the time I still loved ya!

Let me start by saying that Christina Lauren have become much better writers since this, their first effort. There is a lot wrong with this, but the biggest issue is that they made Bennett a giant asshole. No one loves a reformed rake more than I, but this was the jerky boss who was awful to everyone in the company, left people crying, saw assistants quit on day one. Anyone who finds that sexy has never had that boss. I have. Twice. Granted, neither was anything close to irresistibly sexy, but it would not have mattered if they were. Chloe was fantastic so it was impossible to cheer for her to hook up with the jerk.

There were some other issues too, convenient events that were introduced and then swept away with a flick of the wrist, in order to move the story forward. I would point to the guy Bennett's parents tried to set Chloe up with, who seems delightful and really got the shaft. See also, Chloe's father who conveniently got sick (but then it was nothing at all) in order to get Chloe out of town for a period so Bennett could miss her. On the flip side, these women can write a hell of a sex scene. I could have done with less destruction to La Perla panties (I picked up a pair last time I was at the Atlanta store, and they were $150 -- I carefully put them back down.) but otherwise the hotness factor was there even though I actively disliked one of the participants -- that is some good steam.

No need to read this one for the romance lovers, but if you are looking for some solid smut its worth a look.
