Nee. Wirklich. Egal. Ich habs gelesen, weiß, dass ich vorerst nichts mehr von der Autorin lesen werde und widme mich dann dem nächsten Büchlein. Es kann nur besser werden. Tschakka.
4.5 stars
I was so hesitant to read this because some of the people I follow (& share reading tastes with) only gave it 3 stars (which isn't bad, actually) and really didn't like Bennett. But I loved this! And, while I don't think I could handle Bennett, Chloe was perfect for him.
It's kind of funny, though, that this was nearly the last book in the series that I read (only have #5 & some of the novellas left).

Okay y'all...THIS WAS SO INCREDIBLY BAD. Oh my god. What an utter WASTE of my time. I have to rant a little (okay, maybe a lot, sorry lol)
Here's why:
--ALL the couple does is argue and have sex. The book is about 300 pages long. Until page 200, all they did was have sex once they finished putting each other down and arguing. What? EW. Plus, the first time they have sex is SO WEIRD. He just touches her ass randomly (problematic, shows he believes he is entitled to her body) and then they just get so turned on, they have sex? They are at WORK. They are ADULTS. Do they not know the concept of self-control? What about, for once, using their brains the author makes very clear they have because they are each extremely good at their subsequent jobs?????????????
--There was literally no development of a relationship. Just sex in different locations. Therefore, there is no real character growth until the very end, no plot, just the same repetitive sex over and over again. Boring. I kept rolling my eyes and slapping my forehead and saying: here we go again. Apparently, insulting each other in a way that actually hurts is a turn on. Two things. First: some of their rebuttals, remarks were not even insulting. Yet, the other character would claim it was. Huh? Second: two people can have witty banter and dislike each other YET still be attracted to each other. This book was not a representation of that. Here, are just plain MEAN to each other. That is not a fun, passionate relationship. Who wants all their flaws pointed out all the time?
--how the HELL did a masters student afford lingerie from La Perla and Agent Provocateur? I know she gets a scholarship for school and gets paid for her job. However, she has other bills: rent, utilities, groceries, etc. AND she lives in CHICAGO. In a BIG and EXPENSIVE city. This makes no sense. ALSO: all the times they have sex, the guy rips her underwear. That does...not turn me on. Can you imagine dropping so much money on just underwear and it gets ruined? That is literally 500 dollars of lace just down the drain. What the hell?
--I hate the asshole trope. Nothing turns me off more than a guy being rude or arrogant. Just because you are good at your job and have proven yourself in your field does NOT mean that you just write everyone off as incompetent or unworthy of your time!! The male character's rudeness means he believes he is entitled to everyone slaving over him. GROSS. Though he is nice to the female protagonist, this awfulness is still not excused. The person that gives you these mind-blowing orgasms is not the only person in the universe. This book perpetuates the idea that you should only be kind to the person who puts out for you. NO. The world does NOT revolve around you. You are a PARTICIPANT in this world and therefore treat everyone with the same amount of respect that you would your significant other. Thank god romance is moving past this stupid idea that a demanding, condescending man is hot. There is a difference between confidence and arrogance. CONFIDENCE is hot. ARROGANCE can choke. Plus, the male character claims that she is just as rude to him, so he can be rude to her. NO. FIRST of all, he was rude first. He is the boss, he sets the tone/standard. Even so, just because someone is rude to you, DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE RUDE BACK. Are we children? Didn't his mother teach him this lesson?
--BTW: I think niceness is very sexy and a million times hotter than arrogance. A guy can be confident and still be a good ass person. These traits are not mutually exclusive. Men like this exist.
--The female protagonist keeps saying that she has always put her career first. Okayyyyy, then why does she keep letting her boss rip off her clothes at work? Also, she kept complaining about how their relationship is problematic because people will think she screwed her way to the top. She keeps talking about the power imbalance. Okay, so I have a solution: DO NOT HAVE SEX WITH HIM! DO YOU NOT USE YOUR BRAIN??? YOU ARE AN ADULT. YES, people can be horny and all hot and bothered. BUT, a smart person would THINK about the consequences of their actions. If they are both widely attracted to each other, then have fun at night! Outside of work! COMMUNICATE YOUR WANTS AND DESIRES AND NEEDS. Maybe if they did, this annoying book would not have to exist. If I can explain it, it is really not a hard concept to grasp. She is a contradiction and one that makes me roll my eyes.
--I gave this a star because I like to read about smart, independent, capable women. Though this side of the female is barely explored, it was nice to read about.

Příjemná oddechovka. Vtipný erotický román, který neurazí ani moc nenadchne. Líbil se mi :)
Oh my gosh.....this book...just read it
The banter, the chemistry, the spicy scenes and the characters struggles were all top notch. I felt butterflies reading the book and felt for the heroine being torn in her decisions. Absolute *chef’s kiss*

Pretty much exactly what I wanted it to be. I really appreciate that Christina Lauren often makes the male character the vulnerable one - this doesn't disappoint. I enjoyed Bennett and Chloe's interaction, and I really like how seriously Chloe took her career. BUT let's be real: nobody was reading this book for Chloe's career decisions, myself included, and everything else was absolutely wonderful.
if you know that he's her boss and they start having sex you already know the whole book cuz it literally doesn't evolve from this..also pretty sure the writers never had sex with adult male humans before writing this cuz
I love all of what Christina Lauren writes, and this had the underlying tones that their books usually have. I didn’t realize how erotic it was before I started reading and some of the characters tendencies were a but annoying, but by the end I was pleased with the outcome
Fun, flirty and sexy, good to see a strong female character in this kind of story
Wanted to read an enimies to lovers / hook-up to lovers book. And it was exactly as I expected. The characters, plot, romance and everything wasn’t special or original. I still enjoyed reading it. It was not very long with a lot of spicy scenes from start to finish.
