Meh, it was fine. I've read better smut, and I really don't like fighting as foreplay.

4 Stars.

Originally, I had this at 3 stars but after reading a few other books with a similar trope, I find that this wasn’t near as bad as some of the others.

The main problem with this is that some areas of this split were just...forgettable? There was nothing that really drew me in.

I loved the banter and angst, but something was missing for this to be a 5 star read for me.

3 Stars (Audiobook)

Ok. So. After my original DNF I actually continued to read this book. Idk why. But it did grow on me. Not unlike a disease. It ended up being pretty cute and fun. There was a lot of bickering nd a bit of character growth. Breezed through the book after the first 33%. So yeh. A pretty chill read. But I was annoyed about the fact that there was no epilogue.

Kay, so we were told about why they hate one another as opposed to shown, we jump straight into their relationship when their sexual chemistry begins, which I as a reader didn’t feel as a didn’t know the characters as individuals or together. Basically it was a shit show and it’s barely begun. I’m not sticking along for the ride. Don’t wanna waste my time. It just read like a mediocre and amateur wattpad story (wattpad is a gem sometimes ✌🏽). Also all the designer name dropping is just fucking annoying. Idgaf about the fact that a friend fills the MCs closet with Chanel, or the exact way the straps on her lacy panties wrap around her ass. Ffs 🙄🙄🙄.

Muss ich mehr sagen?

I saw this at my local second hand bookstore for $4. I remembered seeing Sarah J. Maas say she loves a different book by Christina Lauren and I thought 'eh, I'll give it a go.'

So to set the scene, I decided to draw myself a bubble bath, poured a glass of wine, (I say glass, but the glass is so big it ended up being half the bottle) and cracked open this book.

Four chapters in and I was ready to drop it in the bath and never look back.

But I did pay for this book, four whole dollars, and it wasn't like I couldn't just skim over the sexy times—and believe me, there were many—to see how it all ended.

I think the main issue I had with this book is how much sex is in it (I realise that may be the point), there was no slow burn AT ALL, and Chloe's decision to stop but then not stop shit me to tears. Also, there was NO PLOT.

Now I know what I was missing out on, so yay for that enlightening experience.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF at about page 130. This is a book that someone left on the plane a while back and I take home pretty much every abandoned book that I find. I’m trying to slowly work through reading my entire physical TBR but I can’t make myself finish this one and it’s going in a little free library next week.

I know this was originally fanfiction but it’s really bad. I get that it’s just a spicy book but the characters are so boring. There’s no buildup, tension, or chemistry. Just fighting and fucking in every single chapter. There’s not even banter just petulant bickering. And I’m sorry but how flimsy are Chloe’s panties if he literally rips them off her body every time they fuck? Just no.

This book could have been much better had it started off a little slower. I didn't like that Bennett and Chloe were already humping each other in Chapter 1. It felt weird and made it hard to believe in their relationship

Dear lordy there was a lot of sexytime in this book! Probably at the expense of character development but you can't help but like the power play between Bennett and Chloe.
