A tooth-achingly sweet romance which is overdone beyond cheesy but I guess that is exactly what a lot of readers were looking for here.
But it was too much for me. Too cartoonishly exaggerated in many ways.
The writing is fine, if unremarkable.
The sexual tension and the smut range from pretty hot to awkward and a total turn-off. For me, it was much more of the latter than the former.

A pet peeve of mine is in this book. "I could care less". If you could care less that means you care, doesn't it? Goddamit. It's supposed to be "I couldn't care less", meaning you are at the lowest level of care you could possibly be. This is such a widespread mistake that I fear both versions reached a level of legitimacy through frequent use to be acknowledged as correct and it drives me mad.

Don't let yourself be turned away by my rating if that is the kind of story you enjoy.

Fun and flirty. I read a ton of interconnected standalones where i just read the one and never anymore but this world is one I think I might come back to. I love the idea of supernaturals in New Orleans because of course that’s where they would be.

Honestly just wish this one had been longer and that things maybe could have been drawn out a little more. Felt like there was some development that could have taken place further than surface level is all. But it was still a fun read that I would recommend.

I'm gonna DNF this one. There really isn't anything wrong with it but I can't get into it. It is a pretty slow-paced story.

I think this was great for what it was - a paranormal rom-com between a female witch and a male werewolf. Reading this as an audiobook was very fun so I would recommend, the time it took to listen didn't feel like long at all. The genre is also right up my ally, the only reason the rating for this is not higher is because I did find some elements of the book didn't make sense. For example, the FMC is obsessed with Marvel but she literally doesn't mention (until the last chapter, maybe even the epilogue), Venom and the parallels between Matteo's wolf dilemma and the inner voice of the marvel character - this was super surprising to me. I am intrigued that the author has set up book two and I am really excited to read it. I liked the spice, I was actually surprised it happened so late in the book but not a bad surprise. I thought the wolf - annoyingly called Alpha (like come on, anything else would work here) - was a funny characterisation and made for humorous inner monologue moments in Matteo's POV.  The other thing I didn't love was the answer to breaking the hex, that did make me roll my eyes a bit as it was so cliché. The epilogue was sweet but also seemed to skip what I thought could have been more developed writing on how Evie pursued her dream / got noticed. I would recommend this book though to friends asking me for a light, paranormal rom-com with spice, still going to read book two!
