Good grief. There is almost no Reacher in most of this. There is an absolutely absurd amount of time on a runaway kid who did everything wrong. And some random groups of bad guys - though no details. Then in the last hour or so, you find out about all the huge things that were actually happening. I think I'm done.
Boring. Felt like it was all over the place. I'm a huge Reacher fan, but these later books are getting harder and heard to enjoy.
The style is pretty similar to the last two reader books. Mostly the same as the solo Lee child books, but with some elements missing.
Initially I thought the faster pacing the books felt nice, but now I find myself missing some of the smaller things, like the overly descriptive scenes or the insights into the characters idiosyncratic thought process.
Small differences like that aside, the plot this book is interesting and compelling. Past couple bucks I've done a good job of mixing in action and history to keep tension high and engagement high.
The one thing this book does differently is we also follow two other story lines (that of course converge at the end) I honestly felt like we could have done without one or both of them. They were fine enough but I didn't feel they really added anything

Really good story overall, despite a rather quick ending
It's hard to pinpoint what makes these sequels written by Lee Child's brother just so....bad. It feels like he has a bingo ball crank from which he pulls plot points--evil prison in Mississippi, inciting incident to involve Reacher, unlikely ally, location where Reacher can beat up a whole bunch of hapless goons. Things take FOREVER to make any sense at all, and it's wrapped up in literally the last five pages with no satisfaction whatsoever. Everything you liked about Reacher is just not here.
