THIS BOOK WAS LIKE COMING HOME.

I never want to leave faerieland. I never want to leave elfhame. Holly could write books from these characters and this world for the rest of her life and I would gobble every story up forever. This is my home.

This book was told in Suren–Wren's—POV. Within the first 3 pages of this book I already knew I would protect her with my life. I love everything about this girl who only wants to be loved and to belong. I love her and I hope the next book is so so kind to her. She deserves the world.

Oak is a precious boy with the biggest affinity of falling for cruel women. He is a gem. I hope within the next book we see his desires more. I want to know what is going on in his head.

This series only being a duology is not enough for me. I need more. I need everything, but I would settle for the next book NOW.

I am on my hands and knees begging for people to love this series as much as I do.

I absolutely loved getting to return to Elfhame. Wren’s story is heartbreaking from beginning to end but I just know book two is really going to be amazing.

Overall an amazing book. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although it was boring in some parts. I absolutely loved the plot of this book, and that plot twist was brutal. Loved Wren's character, it certainly was very interesting to see how despite her being faerie, she behaved and lived like a human. Definitely contrasted Jude's character. I didn't love Oak, especially seeing him as a child in the Cruel Prince. I'm particularly excited to read the Prisoner's Throne, and to see how the plot goes.

Definitely worth reading, I went in thinking this can’t be as good as the Jude+Cardan trilogy but I was wrong. I raced through the book in 2 days it was so good. Must read!!

Don’t go into this expecting Cruel Prince and you will enjoy it so much more. I really enjoyed my time spent with this story.

I think I just enjoyed being back in the world so much! After reading one too many books that had poor execution on the world building, Holly Black scratched that itch for me.

I am actually excited for the sequel, which doesn’t happen often so it must have been good ;)
