This book struggled like the others in the trilogy for me. It kept me engaged, but when I look back I feel like not much happened throughout the book. I personally didn’t see the twist at the end, but once it was revealed it was pretty obvious. All in all it’s a decent book that did keep me engaged but fell a bit flat.

Messy.
The pacing was horrible, the first book was slow, then the second sped up so much i had no clue what was happening. Garrett’s just a tree now? Taryn didn’t get her hea, and what about Mother Marrow’s punishment, and the Undersea war was barely a thing.
I have to admit i was not satisfied with how everything unfolded, after everything Oak worked for and endured, everything went in vain and for nothing.. The ending was very rushed, i didn’t even understand what happened with wren and what about her family? why was it brushed off with a simple visit and we didn’t get to know about it!!! There’s gotta be another series coming because there’s no way that’s how everything ends.

Oak being the MMC was a nice change from the previous three books and Suren's story had me feeling sorry for her in the beginning. I didn't hate the book but somehow it lacked something I still couldn't figure out what. By the end I realized my feelings about this book were the exact same as with the cruel prince. It wasn't the worst reading ever, but it was just okay...
