I love love loved this book. Somehow I've never read a Carley Fortune book before - blasphemy, I know, and this one delivered and then some. As many reviews for this book have said, Prince Edward's Island is the dreamiest, most idyllic setting, and I could see it so clearly. I loved the idea of creating a life you don't need to escape from, and Lucy's journey figuring out what she wanted was so joyful. This reminded me a bit of [book:Funny Story|194802722] in that Lucy had to figure out how to be okay on her own and not depend on only one person, and that really resonated with me (that is the highest of compliments from me btw). Felix is a hot protagonist, and Bridget and Lucy's friendship is so pure. This is really an emblem of the genre - run don't walk to read this!

Okay I was kind of disappointed with this book...I've really enjoyed Carley Fortune in the past. I don't know if my preferences have changed as a reader or if this just was not on par with her other books.

I just felt like there was SO MUCH SEX. Like the initial attraction was sex and then the entire relationship felt driven by sex and not actual enjoyment of each other's personality. Like whenever she mentioned a trait of his that she liked she talked about how hot/sexy/worked up it got her.....

I reeaallly disliked/was disappointed with the moment they finally talked about their feelings/got together. I'm sorry there's NO WAY Lucy didn't know Felix was in love with her - why even mentioned the highlighted quote about love in Great Expectations if 10 pages later you're going to claim that Lucy thought it was all about sex? That felt very unbelievable to me. That scene was very anticlimactic to me. And at this point in the book I was sick of reading about all the sex they were having. I almost feel like it would have been more special if the profession of true feelings didn't immediately lead to more sex.

Meh. Overall it was fine. I do like the authors voice better than most romance writers but I just felt like she was relying on readers wanting explicit scenes and not actually writing a fully fleshed out love story....in my opinion.

I adore this book, I loved everything about it - the writing, the plot, the characters, I loved it all.

“It's how I learned that the families we make are as significant as the ones we're born into. It's how I learned that the greatest loves are not always romances.”

This was a story of friendship, loss, love and more. It was about growth and acceptance, dreaming more and finding home in ourselves. It was so gorgeously written, I didn’t want it to end.

”But I take strange comfort in these waves of heartache. They’re like annotations in a book, a note in the margin that reads, This is important.”

Bee and Felix’s chemistry was perfection, forever coming back to each other like the tide. Just never the right moment. The glances, the moments of soft touches, the whispers, all of it was so *chefs kiss*.

The easiest five stars for me, I’ll be thinking about it for a while.

I loved the vibes of Prince Edward Island/Anne of Green Gables. However, character development was poor and lacking. The characters of Lucy and Felix felt very surface level with no depth. Author seemed to use alot of steamy sex to make up for character development. Also, best friends don’t take forever to tell friends their worries. They let it all out. Bridget’s dilemma was nothing more than life change. The story dragged and was hard to get through for me. The saving grace for the book is honestly the setting minus oyster chucking

Perfect summer read. Very thoughtful characters. Wished we would have seen more of the Aunt.
