This book had an interesting premise but that was gone very quickly. There was absolutely no focus and was also very confusing at times. The plot was just so random, it didn’t make any sense or tell the reader why they should care? The language seemed unrealistic and stiff. The entire book after the beginning was boring and seemed like filler. I really wanted to care about Jane, but I just didn’t. Another thing that was off was, I honestly don’t believe Elinor Lipman knows the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony, which isn’t great based on the subject matter. This book could have been good, but it just needed a lot more focus.

Another thing I didn't get was, why have Jane do food TikTok and catering the whole book, supporting her alternative dream, when she doesn't even pursue that after her home confinement is over? I didn't understand why that was even included as a main part of the book if it wasn't fleshed out.

ALSO, I did not understand how the main characters went from not even dating to engaged and professing their love!!! That was just so disappointing. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

This book was recommended to me and I’ve had mixed results with this author. This was probably one of the most contrived stories and the characters were unbearably annoying. Like, nothing redeeming. Unbelievable dialog, terrible plot points. Ugh.

DNF at 42%. This was a book that had been sitting on my shelf for a long time now so I thought I’d go ahead and give it a shot… huge waste of time😂😅 I don’t even know what I just read.
