Like its heroine, Ms Demeanor is quirky, smart, and understated. It doesn't grab you and pull you in, instead it washes over you and takes you by surprise. Because in the end, that's just as impactful. Especially because it helps understand Jane more fully. And to be delighted by the change in the course of her life, both personally and professionally.

This is a quick read. Perfect for summer. It’s got just the right amount of self-deprecating humor. I breezed straight through this book. The main character is an almost 40 year old New York City attorney who’s arrested and charged with public indecency after having a rendezvous with an associate at the firm on her roof. She loses her job (the associate only gets a slap on the wrist) and she’s now under home confinement.
While in confinement she learns her building is also housing another white collar criminal. And then it all happens. A Polish count and his sister, a 23 and Me genealogy test, and TikTok.
Oh and she’s an identical twin. That’s a big part of the story too. Her twin…is an acquired taste. And I’ll leave it at that.
