a little too contemporary vibes wise for what i’m interested in reading. might pick this back up eventually just for the sake of finishing it because i bought a physical copy!
Quite frankly could not stand the main character. Often found myself bored with the plot and frustrated with her decision making.

in the vein of the bold type, kind of. sometimes i worry for no reason that i have lost my desire to read and that nothing will ever interest me again, but then something like this comes along and it's engaging, easy to read, and reminds me that that fear is silly. i liked mickey's narrative voice, which had just enough specific what-kind-of-starbucks-order details to make a vivid and ultimately really tangible image of what her life looked like: exactly that mid-20s new york city magazine dream that all the girlies want and that she felt she'd been living. i do wish there was more on her and lex, but i get the whole goal of ending ambiguously with an eye towards the future.

The premise of this book was a lot different than described. Felt like it was about an old situationship and the major points I was thinking would be the plot/theme of the book were only at the very beginning and end. I don’t mind a book that has loose ends but this felt unfinished.
3.5 — Not a huge fan of ambiguous / unfinished endings but still v enjoyable & powerful
