Riordan is back in his element with this Apollo series. I think he’s best when he doesn’t try to narrate from a girl’s perspective or throw in too much romance, and this book has neither. Apollo is still stuck in the body of a gawky teenaged boy named Lester, haplessly searching for his demigod master, Meg, and trying to complete his quests. When Zeus is finally satisfied, Apollo may regain his godly status. Unfortunately for him, that hasn’t happened yet. We meet the second of three horrible Roman emperors and many mythical creatures. Good fun.

Apollo is one of my favorite characters out of all the books I have ever read. Having this kind of insight on Apollo is interesting and hilarious, and I love that he often addresses the reader. I've also been in love with the haikus at the beginning of each chapter that give you a funny glimpse into what is to come. I may have cried at some events of the book...
Apollo also continues on the hero's path that stems from the monomyth mentioned in my review of the first book. 10/10 would read again

This guy just never disappoints!

An interesting instalment in the Apollo series, with a quest to find the cave of an Oracle and find Meg, Apollo's master and friend, to help him with things.

Leo and Calypso weren't in this book enough, and although they decide to stay at Waystation, Leo is actually off to warn his friends at Camp Jupiter in the next book. Don't get that, but yay! More Leo. I love the hunters of Artemis, nice to see them in another story, off on the hunt for a nasty fox-hmmm, another series? Hope so.

Apollo wasn't so much his usual arrogant self until later in the book, so I missed laughing at him. I do like his memories of different things he's done, good and bad, in his history. The fact that he's bisexual is also done well, and potentially, Jamie could be an interesting guy for him to like.

Jo and Emmie are also great in that they run Waystation, an awesome living building that takes in people in need of a safe place. Love the concept and this couple and their daughter, Georgie.

Now, of course, the wait begins for the next book.

again, this was a harder book for me to read. apollo is an extremely unlikeable narrator and I struggle to invest in the plot. however, I love the side characters and the strong influence that this series has of history. I will keep on going and hopefully the next book will be the one I love!
