This book was perfectly paced and had so much action, fun adventures, and twists and turns!! AND I loved seeing Thalia again! There is already so much that’s happened and so much more to come (based on the prophecy) and I don’t know what to expect, but I know it will be so much fun!

4.5 stars. I sometimes wished Riordan hadn't put quite so much action and plot and characters into each book, because I'm always left with too many questions to be realistically answered in only five books.
But still, the series is pretty great so far. At my first read of book one, it felt less mature than the other series, but now I think I'm wrong, as this book is really dealing with some heavy stuff - in a very good way. Will hopefully get to the next one soon.

Honestly, I still prefer the original Percy Jackson books but I do love this series. My only gripe with Trials of Apollo is how much you see Meg and Calypso; I don’t care for those two characters very much and they had a big part to play in this book.
Rick is funny. Always enjoy some lighthearted Olympic fighting.

"I remember something Marcus Aurelius used to tell his son, a quote that later became famous in his Meditations book: Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now, take what's left and live it properly. What doesn't transmit light creates its own darkness."
At this rate, I’m going to be reading Percy Jackson new releases to my grand-kids, but if they keep bringing this level of quality, I’m fine with that.
This novel was a vast improvement over the one before it. The plot was better, we got a healthy dose of Leo Valdez, and I just enjoyed it more. Apollo was less irritating whiny baby, and more hilariously whiny tween. My only serious complaint is not enough Solangelo. I need my ray of sunshine and his personal storm cloud.
The pop culture references in these books seem to be getting a bit out of hand, but maybe that’s just me. I’ve always been biased toward pop songs; how can you not be when there’s this thing called musicals?
His books grow progressively diverse, and do a phenomenal job of staying on top of modern times in that aspect. You’ll be hard pressed to find middle grade novels with this level of representation, humor, and fantasy adventure. Seriously.
All in all, solid addition to a solid series.
