Fun Hollywood memoir. You really end up cheering her on—hope she succeeds!
Admittedly, I have not considered myself a huge Busy Philipps fan. I picked up this [audio] book from the library based on a recommendation and am so glad I did. Based solely on the public version of herself, I would have pegged Busy Philipps as part of the popular crowd in school. But rather, she fell somewhere in the middle, just like I had. I found her story so relatable and so often throughout thought, "Yes, me too!" and "It helps to know it wasn't just me who felt that way."
If you have the option, I highly recommend listening to the audio version which she reads. Hearing the joy, the sadness and the pain in her voice as she tells her story makes it even more impactful. Thank you, Busy, for sharing your truths.

Not what I was expecting. I did especially like her chapter on Freaks and Geeks.
I listened to the audio version of this book, narrated by the author, which I highly recommend. Sometimes this book hurt more than a little, I have to say. Busy doesn’t hold back, and some of her feelings and experiences she describes from growing up brought back some unwelcome personal memories. That said, I couldn’t stop thinking about this book and I’ve been constantly talking about it to anyone who will listen. This book is perfect for anyone who enjoys no bullcrap memoirs, insider Hollywood stories, fans of Busy Philipps herself, and really well-written stories in general.

Every page is a neon sign screaming for attention. She is rude. She’s selfish. She’s vapid and vain.
I absolutely loved this!! Highly would recommend.
It felt like I was reading a YA book or something not a memoir.

i love freaks and geeks (and also, loved dawson’s creek) so i was super pumped to read @busyphilipps new book! i read it in one day, it’s that good. she was born in oak park and then grew up in arizona before moving to LA. her writing is so truthful and hilarious and i have so much respect for how open she is about her marriage and career and just life as a woman. also, can’t believe how many times she’s dislocated her knee
