The first chapter hooked me and and I really liked when she talked about being a woman in the business (and in life.) I also appreciated the personal stories, but it could drag a little when it was the blow by blow of things. It felt like the book could have benefited from an editor that would focus the narrative in a little. That said, I enjoy Busy's voice and a couple days later I am still thinking about parts of the book, even though I have gone on to read other things.

Audiobook from the library read by the author.

I really only know Busy from Freaks and Geeks, which I LOVE, but I'm a fan of her attitude overall. This was a fairly standard celebrity actress memoir about her life and how she got there but it was really interested and fun. Would recommend as an easy, fun read/listen.
emotional inspiring lighthearted sad medium-paced

THIS. This is what a celeb memoir should be!

Hilarious. Poignant. And brutally honest.

Busy’s honesty in her book is at times very uncomfortable in the best of ways. You can tell she took her time in unveiling her life stories. It’s not just a snapshot of her life, but a full picture of all her highs and lows. Fun read.

Also, Busy’s narration in the audiobook makes it even better. So good.

I read this book with a basic awareness of Busy Philipps, having watched Freaks and Geeks many times over, but I haven’t stayed on top of her career in recent years. You don’t have to be a mega fan to enjoy her stories, but some knowledge of who she is is helpful. I got this audiobook from the library and was immediately hooked. She narrates it herself and you feel as if you’re just listening to her tell you crazy stories over a beer, not as if she’s reading. I’ve never read such an honest and open celebrity memoir; she spares no details, she names names, and while some stories had to be hard to tell and could’ve made you think less of her - ultimately, her vulnerability makes her all the more loveable. I found myself tearing up hearing her tell some of her more personal stories, laughing through her shenanigans, and thoroughly entertained the whole way through. Definitely recommend if you enjoy celebrity memoirs.

Funny, honest and surprisedly moving read
funny hopeful fast-paced

I really enjoyed this.  There were parts that were laugh out loud.  There were parts that made me sad.  It felt like Busy Phillips was just talking to me through the whole book.  I really enjoyed it.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed the audiobook as Busy reads it and it made it a lot more personal. While parts lose focus and ramble a bit, I appreciated her raw honesty, particularly when discussing her anxiety, abortion, and raising her daughters.

very much enjoyed this book. She shares a hilarious honest view of the industry.

If you’ve been let down by every celebrity memoir since Bossypants and Yes, Please, this is what you’ve been waiting for.
