This book is basically written proof that Busy Philips and I should be BFFs. I’m typically pretty meh when it comes to celebrity memoirs but this one really worked for me. Now I want to listen to the audiobook!

I wasn't expecting to love this memoir as much as I did, but I think the audio performance really solidified how good it was. I've always liked Busy Philipps (especially on Cougartown, such an underrated show and performance!) but I didnt know much about her or ever consider that she might have something interesting to say. AND SHE DOES. This was excellent -- funny and sad, digging deep into the ugly side of Hollywood and the bullshit that actresses deal with, not shying away from the many rough patches of her marriage or her struggle with anxiety and depression. She doesn't shy away from anything, facing everything (the good, the bad, and the weird) head on. Her vocal performance is stellar, feeling like she's just talking to you, though that might also have to do with her writing style.

Highly recommend, especially if you enjoy audio books or celebrity memoirs.

I love Busy Phillips so I may be biased, but this book read like a conversation with a best friend. It was so entertaining, it even made me laugh out loud at points. That said, she also spends a fair bit of time sharing some sadder stories, which I appreciated - it's super relatable and warm. Definitely worth a read (especially if you're already a fan).

This was a perfectly cromulent book that I'd probably put at 3 and 1/2 stars but it was enjoyably readable enough that I bumped it up.

I love Busy so much and I wish more than anything that somehow I could become her friend in real life. Her podast wasn't enough last week so I figured I'd reread her book and of course finished it too quickly.

Listen to the audiobook and then turn it to a 1.5 speed.

Busy Philipps’ life reminds me of her character on Cougar Town. I cracked up, was horrified, almost cried and was fascinated. Busy tells it like it is, which is so refreshing. This is a book you should definitely read (or listen to, because the audiobook version is amazing.)

I impulse bought this book (at a second hand store) because I saw a lot of buzz about it by her other celebrity friends who I follow on social media. I also listened to her interview with Marc Maron so I was curious. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I were invested in her as a person or her work before I read it. I preferred Jenna Fischer's book better when it came to explaining the acting life. Busy just seemed whiney and dramatic about her past. I understand the actors life is hard but she had a bit of a drama queen and also a victim mentality, but she's an actress, what did I expect? I was intrigued to read about her creation and involvement in Blades of Glory and her friendship with Heath Ledger but beyond that it was a fluffy beach read.

I wanted to like this so much more than I actually did.

Not enough stars to capture my love for this book.
